D E P U T Y P R I N C I P A L ’ S M E S S A G E What an exci ng few weeks we have experienced since the holidays. Mr McFarlane has checked in from his Harvard visit and he has now connected our school to over 190 schools worldwide. We look forward to a full report. NAIDOC week celebra ons are underway with tomorrow’s assembly highligh ng the role of Aboriginal people serving country .Yesterday morning’s assembly surprised us all with the large number of local Aboriginal people who have served in war and at home during mes of conflict. It was enlightening to learn of the role of so many, and saddening to hear of their experiences on return from service. The assembly on Wednesday is followed by morning tea and parents and friends are all invited to a end. We par cularly hope the parents of the eleven new students, who have begun their schooling at Bowraville, have an opportunity to a end the NAIDOC morning tea on Wednesday or observe the fun of the sport day on Friday. Educa on week is brought in with a Book Parade early on Monday morning and students are encouraged to wear costume. The 10 schools of the Nambucca Valley are hos ng the Educa on week awards at Bowraville Central School on Thursday night at 5.30. Our school will provide the venue and much of the entertainment for the night .Parents, students and friends are invited to the ceremony to enjoy pre‐ceremony refreshments and a end the award ceremony. THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF VILKAS
One day in a quiet li le town in Madagasca the people of Manchuda were celebra ng the annual Hun ng Fes val (which is a er Thursday.)
Farkas was the champion of the Hun ng Fes val. Vilkas was one of the few contestants from the fes val but he always came last. Vilkas was fast asleep when he awoke to a strange sound. He got out of bed to go have a look. The sound was coming from the jungle.
Chapter 2
Vilkas went deep into the jungle. The sound was now becoming quieter and quieter… un l it stopped. Vilkas scavenged through the dirt and found a stone trap door. He tried opening it but it was no good. It needed something. But then he found a note. It was a poem. He read it out loud and the trap door opened. “Wow” said Vilkas. “It was a magic spell!
He crawled into the trap door and saw a weird looking four eyed creature. It screamed in high pitched terror as it ran quickly into a small hole in the door. “What was that!” Yelled Vilkas. Suddenly light shone through the trap door. “Oh no!” Yelled Vilkas “The annual hun ng fes val will be star ng”! He quickly climbed up the ladder but the door slammed shut, Vilkas fell to the floor…
