Congratulations to all students who have such bright futures ahead of them following their efforts and involvement at Bowraville Central School. It was a wonderful evening where students, their families and friends and staff took time to reflect upon the achievements of this particular group of fine young people, and of our ever-improving school community. Many thanks to all involved in creating such a successful and memorable event – in particular to Mrs Eve Riches, the students’ Year Advisor. Remembrance Day Each year since 1918 11th November is a time for people across the world to honour those who have sacrificed themselves in time of war, and also to take a moment to focus on how we can all endeavour to reduce the need for conflict in any form. As Remembrance Day this year fell on a Sunday, our school ceremony was held on Monday 12 th November. Many thanks to Mr Jim Cameron for representing the Bowraville RSL Sub-Branch once again on this occasion. It is always significant having a returned service man or woman present with us. Have a great week. Malcolm McFarlane Mona Kelly, Kirsty Parkins, Brittny Young, Aemyn Connolly, Maddison Wilkes, Josh Simon

Principal’s Message

Year 12 Farewell Last Thursday evening we celebrated the achievements of our 2012 Year 12. Congratulations to all students who have

such bright futures ahead of them following their efforts and involvement at Bowraville Central School. It was a

wonderful evening where students, their families and friends and staff took time to reflect upon the achievements of

this particular group of fine young people, and of our ever-improving school community.

Many thanks to all involved in creating such a successful and memorable event – in particular to Mrs Eve Riches, the

students’ Year Advisor.

Remembrance Day Each year since 1918 11th November is a time for people across the world to honour those who have sacrificed

themselves in time of war, and also to take a moment to focus on how we can all endeavour to reduce the need for

conflict in any form. As Remembrance Day this year fell on a Sunday, our school ceremony was held on Monday 12th

November. Many thanks to Mr Jim Cameron for representing the Bowraville RSL Sub-Branch once again on this

occasion. It is always significant having a returned service man or woman present with us.

Have a great week.

Gold Coast 2012

Last week 26 students, 3 parents and two teachers

headed north to the Gold Coast. Students had a

fabulous time and experienced life on the Gold Coast

for the week. As normal the pace was fast and

everyone kept busy visiting major attractions like: Wet

n Wild, Dreamworld, Brisbane, Botanical Gardens,

Planetarium, Science Centre, Sea World as well as

evening attractions such as Putt Putt Golf, Infinity, Ice

Skating, Time Zone, Ripley’s Believe it or Not and

Pacific Fair Shopping Centre.

Students, parents and staff all returned exhausted on

Friday evening. A big thankyou goes to Sharon Atkins,

Melissa Whalen and Jo Simon for making the effort

to come and help with supervision. Another thank you

goes to all the students who were fantastic over the

week.

A student report will be in next week’s newsletter

Students and some parents are keen for another trip

next year so “beware parents” the cost will be

around $600 and if it goes ahead, will be run early

November.

Swim School

A reminder that this year’s Swim School will

commence in several weeks. Permission notes and

money need to be returned to school as soon as

possible.

Lawn Bowling

Primary students have taken up lawn bowls for sport.

This has become a very popular sport so the

Department of Sport and Recreation are now keen to

run a Coaching course for teachers, parents and those

who are interested. This will be a free course and will

be held on Monday 26th from 5 pm to 8 pm. If you are

interested in this course please ring Julie at the Rec

Club or myself at school.

Health and Well Being Camp (Years 3 to 6)

Richie Donovan is running his “Health and Well being”

camp next Monday. This camp has a focus on athletic

skills and is for the student that shows talent in one or

more of the athletic skills. Permission notes must be

returned by Wednesday this week.
