BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF PORTAGE COUNTY
PARENT/New Club member ORIENTATION
CLUBS AND PROGRAMSPower Hour:Power Hour helps Club members ages 6-18 achieve
academic success by providing homework help,
tutoring and high-yield learning activities and
encouraging Club members to become self-directed
learners.
Fine Arts: Programs in this area enable youth to develop their
creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge
and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing
arts and creative writing.
LEAP (Literacy Enrichment & Arts Program): Focused primarily on 1st-3rd grade students, LEAP
combines reading, both individually and in groups, with
fun story-centered art projects, drama, videos, and
activities to make reading fun. Different themes are used
to guide LEAP activities during each session.
Triple Play Program: Boys & Girls Club of America’s first comprehensive
health and wellness program, developed in
collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and
Human Services, strives to improve the overall health of
Club members ages 6-18 by increasing their daily
physical activity.
Snack and Dinner Program:Each BGC Site provides a FREE healthy snack for Club
members daily after school. Berard Center and Teen
Center will also provide a FREE dinner daily after
school. Club sites which are open on No School Days
will provide Club members with a FREE healthy lunch
and snack. Dinner and snack is provided by USDA and
WalMart.

Guided Groups:Club members are put in groups by the grade they will
be going into this coming fall.
Pals: 1st-3rd Grade
Cadets: 4th-6th Grade
Teens: 7th Grade and Up

Almond-Bancroft No School Days & Special Events Calendar
TransportationTransportation is available daily from Almond-Bancroft School to Bancroft (Pine Grove Villa). Transportation
leaves Monday-Thursday at 6:30 PM and Fridays at 5:30 PM from Almond-Bancroft School.
To utilize transportation, students must be Club members and check-in at the BGC Front Desk at least 15 minutes before departure.
