HISTORY AND FUTURE OF OUR BRAND

HISTORY OF OUR BRAND

Z-Wave has come a long way since its inception in 2001. What began as a simple interoperable two-way RF mesh networking technology has now become a standard in tens of millions of homes.

The interoperability and backward compat-ibility of our technology has been instrumen-tal in making Z-Wave the secret sauce ingredient brand that drives the home controls market from many directions: device manufacturers, builders, installers, retailers, e-tailers, security providers, tele-com operators and many others.

The awareness of the Z-Wave brand has grown, from being a B2B technology to a mark that is recognizable by millions of consumers worldwide. Z-Wave has become the backbone of home control, and families depend on Z-Wave products for security and monitoring, energy management and other solutions both for their homes and beyond.

2013 marks a milestone in the evolution of Z-Wave technology with the introduction of the 500 series of chips. The 500 series

features even better range along with faster technology and longer lasting battery life. In line with this innovation, we’ve introduced a dedicated Z-Wave Plus certification pro-gram, to make sure that products equipped with Z-Wave technology always deliver on these promises.

Z-Wave Plus certification

• Z-Wave Plus is the product certification program for Next Gen based designs.

• Z-Wave V.8 Certification remains for Series 300/400 based designs.

• Z-Wave Plus ensures true Plug & Play set-up through network-wide inclusion and a higher level of interoperability.

As a result, the classic Z-Wave logo and word mark have also evolved. We made it simpler and easier to use in trade and on-pack in order to become better recogniz-able as the ecosystem becomes more broadly available directly to consumers. And to support the Z-Wave Plus program,

we’ve introduced a Z-Wave Plus logo featur-ing the new updated Z-Wave logo.

This logo is used on Z-Wave Plus certified products only. For customers with V8 certi-fied products, we offer a choice between using the new Z-Wave logo as a badge, without the plus, or using the existing “Speaks Z-Wave” logo from the previous brand book. This will allow customers to phase out already printed packaging or products over time. As a Z-Wave partner you are responsible for making the Z-Wave promise visible in the market by using the new certification badge for new mark on packaging, and the new technology mark on-line, in presentations and at tradeshows - anywhere you present one of your prod-ucts that incorporates certified Z-Wave technology.

Thank you for your support.
