Afteragreatwarhundredsofyearsago,theBrood,araceofdragonpeople,wasforcedtothebrinkofdestruction.ButRyu,supposedlytheonlysurvivorofthedragonrace,wasencasedinchrysmoreforcenturies.AfterhereawakenedfromhislongimprisonmentandwasdiscoveredintheDaunaMine,hegetstakenunderthecareofapoorthiefnamedRei,whowasalreadytakingcareofanotherorphanaswell.Ryudiscovershisdragondescentshortlyafterbeingseparatedfrom

hisfriends,andonhisjourneytofindoutmoreabouttheancientdragons,hemakesnewfriendsandgainshelpfulandknowledgeableallies.Later,RyumustjourneytoseethegodoftheGuardianracetofindoutwhyhisancestorsweredestroyed.

Ryu-Ryuisablue-hairedyoungmanwithamoralheart.HeistheonlyknownsurvivorofthedragonracetheBrood,andheuseshisstrengthanddragonabilitiestohelphiscompanions.Ryulearnsagoodsetofhealingandassistmagic,andputtingthattogetherwithhisdragonabilitiesmakehimthemostvaluablememberofyourparty.Teepo-Teepo,likeRyu,isanorphanwhoisbeingtakencareofbyRei.BesidesRei,ofcourse,hehatesitwhenpeopletellhimwhattodo,andheisapathetictowardhisthievinglifestyle.AlthoughTeepoisstrongforisage,hisarrogancedoesnothingbutgethimintrouble.Teepolearnsadecentsetofattackspellsthatareveryusefulearlyinthegame.

Rei-EventhoughReiisathief,hehasawholesomeheartanddoesn'tliketheideaofhurtingothers.WhiletakingcareofRyuandTeepo,Reiisveryresponsibleandalwaysdoeswhat'sintheirbestinterest.HeappearstobeholdingbacksomekindofhiddenpowersothatTeepoandRyudon'tgethurt.Reiacquiresanicearsenalofelectricspellsandlearnssomeassistmagicaswell.AlthoughhisattackpowerisminisculecomparedtoGarr's,hisspeedandincredibleaccuracymakehimaverystrongpartymember.

Nina-NinaistheprincessofWyndia,butsheisgettingtiredoftheroyallifestyleandbeingcontrolledbyherparents.Atthebeginningofher

travelswithRyu,sheisabithelplessinthefaceofdangerandthinksofRyuasherhero,becausehe'salwayssavingherfromdilemmas.NinahaslittletosayintheareaofHPandphysicalstrength,butshenaturallylearnsthemostpowerfulattackspellsofanyoneinyourpartyandlearnsafewassistspellsalso.

Momo-Momoisanindependentscientistwhoknowsjustabouteverythingaboutmachinesandchrysm.Shehasachrysm-poweredassistantnamedHoneytohelpher.HerextensiveknowledgeprovesusefultimeandtimeagainwhiletravelingwithRyuandhisfriends.Momowieldsahugebazookaasherweaponanditpacksawallop,butitisn'tveryaccurate.Shelearnsafewpowerfulattackspells,aswellassomehealingandassist

magic,makingheravitalmemberofyourfinalline-up.

Peco-Pecoisalittleonion-likecreaturethatwascreatedfromanexperimentatthePlant.Althoughhedoesn'tseemtohavestrongtieswithhumans,heisveryin-touchwithnature,especiallytheYggdrasiltree.HelearnsauniquesetofbreathattacksandhastheabilitytoregenerateasmallamountofHPeveryturn.PecoexcelsinHPanddefense,howeverhedoesn'thavemuchinthewayofagilityandintelligence.Butwithsomegoodmastermanagement,Pecocaneasily
