A QUICK MESSAGE FROM ME

This edition of our seasonal brochure is our biggest yet! It is so exciting to see the expanded Centre come to life with such an array of great arts and cultural experiences.

The new theatre has been such a beautiful addition to what we can offer and it has been so good to see so many different ways to use all the new spaces. We have recently welcomed a new, permanent conference and events team with Mark Attard as Food and Beverage Manager and Mel Morton as Conference Coordinator and it is exciting to have event professionals as part of our team. Mark will be cooking up a storm with our dinner deal before Claire Hooper & Cal Wilson Live (see pages 12 & 13) and the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow (see pages 26 & 27) so make sure you book now for our two-course meal with a wine or beer for $35pp.

We are also excited to be bringing West Australian Ballet straight out of their 2015 Ballet at the Quarry season as part of our BREC Presents program, with Platinum Tickets available that include a drink on arrival, canapés, signed posters and other goodies.

For the first time in Bunbury, West Australian Ballet presents its iconic Ballet at the Quarry season.

Headlining the program is the Australian premiere of international choreographer Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Zip Zap Zoom, an energetic fusion of hip hop, ballroom, cabaret and other dance forms. La Pluie, also by Ochoa, is a captivating, fluid pas de deux set to the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, while the third piece, Steptext, brings the work of famed choreographer William Forsythe to West Australian Ballet for the first time.

The final piece, Hold the Fourth, by dancer and choreographer Daniel Roberts, uses a quote from George Orwell’s 1984 to describe the new work – ‘War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength’.

Zip Zap Zoom is an electrifying feast for the senses!

All the hits are here! I'll Never Find Another You, The Carnival is Over, Morningtown Ride and, of course, Georgie Girl - they are all faithfully reproduced along with Beggars' originals and rollicking standards such as Open Up Them Pearly Gates and Sinner Man.

The Beggars Sing The Seekers follows their story from the Melbourne cafe scene in 1962 to London, the swinging centre of the pop universe where The Seekers rode a rollercoaster of hits and produced the 1968 BBC TV special Farewell The Seekers, which was watched by millions.

The show is presented in wonderful harmony by internationally acclaimed Adelaide folk sensation The Beggars, fresh from a sell-out performance at the 2014 Adelaide Fringe Festival. The band

is made up of Renee Donaghey, Stuart Day and Quinton Dunne, three brilliant singer songwriters with a crystal clear Australian acoustic sound. Their handmade music has climbed the iTunes and European radio charts, winning fans and making them a regular feature on the Australian and European touring circuits.

Fresh from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, two of your favourite funny girls, Claire Hooper and Cal Wilson, are joining forces for one night only!

Claire Hooper started her career on the stage - crafting engaging, innovative live shows that blended stand-up, theatre and some hammer dancing. Her 2006 show Oh earned her both critical acclaim and a nomination for the Melbourne Comedy Festival's Best Newcomer award. Since then Claire has gone on to regularly perform at festivals and comedy rooms all over the country. For three years Claire shared a set with Paul McDermott and Mikey Robbins on the iconic comedy show Good News Week as a team captain.

Cal Wilson came across the Tasman in 2003 and has gone on to become one of our most popular comedians, a perennial favourite on television shows such as Spicks and Specks, Good News Week and Thank God You're Here. Her stand-up shows are as engaging as they are hilarious, often bringing the audience's stories to life alongside her own.

Well, what are you waiting for? Come on up! THEY’RE BACK!

Yes, that’s right. Andy and Terry had such a ball with their crash-landing entry into the world of theatre with The 13-Storey Treehouse, they’re back for more. 13 storeys more, in fact. And you're invited!

You know what 13 more storeys means. More inventions – like the 78 flavour ice-cream dispensing robot and the brain bamboozling Maze of Doom (not to mention the self-inflating underpants) - and more things to go wrong, not least of which is the very real possibility that the entire show is a complete and utter disaster. Will Andy and Terry push their friend Jill to her absolute limits? And who is this shady Hector Houtkop, with a really bad pirate accent? And what about all those pirates?

Adapted by award-winning playwright and author Richard Tulloch (The Book of Everything, Bananas in Pyjamas), The 26-Storey Treehouse is brought to you by the same cracker team that delivered

Direct from a sensational sell-out tour of Australia & New Zealand, the world's premier 'Beatles' band, the Fabulous Beatle Boys, are bringing their highly acclaimed recreation of the Beatles' one and only tour of Australia to a select few Australian cities and towns that missed out the first time round.

2014 marked the 50th anniversary of the greatest music tour this country has ever seen or is ever likely to see again. The Beatles are headed our way 50 Years On and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience an unforgettable piece of Australian music history - twice, if you were there in 1964.

Audiences will see the original 64-tour show as it was performed all those years ago in Australia. The song set, the outfits, the instruments and atmosphere will be faithfully recreated.

Audience members will be encouraged to help recreate that atmosphere - to scream, shout and jump about. Well, maybe parents might leave that to their daughters and grandchildren!

Whatever they decide, it is going to be huge fun and an experience to savor all over again.

The Fabulous Beatle Boys will also perform the Beatles' biggest and most loved hits on the night.

A giant-hearted story from a giant-sized storyteller.

Allan Girod, not your average six foot nine performer, daydreams his way through getting everything exactly right. Repeatedly setting the bar too high, he trips whilst jumping under it, landing somewhere he never imagined. This is a true, touching and laugh-out-loud tale of how an extreme introvert became a performer in Cirque du Soleil.

Sometimes the best place to belong is where the unexpected takes you.

Following its highly acclaimed UK tour, the award-winning Absolutely eagerly returns to regional WA, the heart of its own story. Combining masterful storytelling with pure acting chops, this intimate show is part armchair chat and part riveting re-enactment, transporting the audience from darkest

suburbia and a wheatbelt town to inside the mind of a performer whose finale takes place on a grandiose big top stage.

Workshops with Allan will be held on Saturday 23 May as

part of the Shore Lines Festival.

Karise Eden first captured the nation's attention in 2012 when she won the television series The Voice at the age of 19 with a uniquely soulful yet powerful vocal style. She broke records for the most number of singles in the national sales chart (previously held by The Beatles) and went on to have the biggest selling album nationally for an Australian artist that year.

2014 saw Karise return with the release of her sophomore album Things I've Done, aptly named as she wrote 11 of the 12 songs about her own life experiences - a turbulent life that in October 2014 the ABC's Australian Story covered in an exclusive TV special called Vanishing Act that pulled an audience of 1.3 million, the ABC's highest ratings since their special on Kerry Packer. It gave a fresh insight into Karise's troubled past and the life

experiences that helped mould her astounding, soulful voice that she refers to as a "lion's roar".

This year, Karise will tour Australia with her new band performing songs from her new album Things I've Done, a selection of songs from her debut album My Journey, and a few surprises.Karise Eden is one of the world's most promising young female singer-songwriters.
