BRENTISEN

Page 2: Brentisen

In the year of 1337 Pope Benedict XII issued the “Magnus Expurget” (The Great Purge) which called for the

removal of those the church deemed heretical from the land of their God. Those the church captured were given a choice:

exile to the frozen, hellish lands of the far north, or death. For two years prisoner caravans rolled across Europe, gathering all the opponents of the church while on their way toward Britain.

It was in the costal hamlet of Blackpool, England that the prison ships were loaded and set to sea heading due North

through the North Channel.

Eventually they came upon a strange, frozen land dotted with infernally searing volcanic hotspots. The Papal jailors

seemed to find this a suitable location; however, as they were about to leave the prisoners in this icy land they were ambushed by a Viking raiding party led by Grimgald

Jernskjegget. Upon seeing this occur an Italian prisoner by the name of Bernardo Damiano took a chance and led his brothers-

in-chains to use this opportunity to revolt against those who took them captive.

HISTORY

An artistic rendition of Grimgald (front) and his raiding party.

Grimgald was so impressed with the ferocity in which the prisoners fought their

oppressors that after the last jailor was slain he allowed them to stay in his land and build

their own towns.

In the years to follow Bernardo and the rest of the former-prisoners went about making a socirty of their own, where they could live as they chose to, without fear of oppression from any church. This society

would eventually assimilate with the folk of Grimgalds’ people and become the

Brentisen that it is today

Brentisens’ economy is a capitalist system. Brentisens’ main exports all involve metal. All the metal

that is dug out of any of the many rich mines scattered over the island is processed and made into all sorts of metal

works in the factories in all major cities. These manufactured goods are then shipped to countries all over

the world.

While some vegetation is able to be grown, a lot of fruits and vegetables are imported from other countries.

ECONOMY

Most of the energy produced is that of geothermal energy generated via the volcanic hotspots that dot the landscape. The power plants that produce the energy are funded and

run by numerous private companies. What geothermal energy does not cover is provided through the use of

carbon-based fuel sources.
