Sensual Seychelles has long been dubbed

‘the islands of love’. Home to the unique

site of the original Garden of Eden, it is little

wonder that lovers are inspired to take their

atmosphere.

Marriage and/or honeymoon packages are

offered by several leading travel agencies

Ensuring that your wedding day or

Whether in Seychelles for a wedding or

honeymoon, make a rendezvous with destiny

and set your own stage for the most romantic

days of your life beneath swaying palms

alongside warm azure waters fringed by the

silver-soft sands of hidden beaches!

A selection of hotels, both large and small as

well as a choice of discreet island hideaways

for your honeymoon will intensify your

intimacy as you lazily soak up your first

glorious days and nights together. Sip exotic

tropical cocktails against the backdrop of

crimson sunsets. Visit the island of La Digue

where time stands still and bicycles and the

ox-cart hold sway on the pathways to dream

beaches such as Anse Source D’Argent.

Quietly stroll in the Vallée de Mai where the

legendary Coco-de-mer nut grows high on

ancient palms. Dine tête à tête with your feet

in the sand on un-crowded beaches. Try your

hand at dancing the moutia, whose sensuous

rhythms beckon from the flicker of a beach

fire beneath a lover’s moon.

Why Namibia is one of the most romantic settings for your Honeymoon!

NAMIBIA

With your much anticipated wedding day around

the corner, it's time to find the perfect setting

for that once in a lifetime honeymoon

celebration. For an unforgettable romantic

getaway, look no further than the land where

sparkling diamonds blend with warm orange

sand dunes, lush green nature reserves, and

miles of wide open blue skies - Namibia!

Only a short flight away from South Africa on the

prestigious Air Namibia, with various departure

and arrival cities, Namibia provides the perfect

break from the stress and strain of everyday

living and allows one to step back and evaluate

who and what is really important in your life as

you slowly unwind and slow down, under the hot

African sun of this multifaceted destination. With

no visas required for South African passport

holders, a trip up north can be arranged as easily

as one, two, three – just don’t forget to pack the

sun block!

In this land of contrasts, opportunities for

romance abound. Romance and Spa products

have blossomed, giving visitors to Namibia an

opportunity to experience a soulful element to

their holiday, with packages and products

available to rival the best spas from around the

world.

With an abundance of spas, some just 30

minutes from Namibia’s capital Windhoek, you

can expect the ultimate in short break

pampering experiences. Outdoor massages and

a full range of world class treatments prepare

you for romantic dinners overlooking the vast

expanse of the lunar like surrounds

Historical castles beckon romantics with

promises of four poster beds, deep wine cellars

and enchanted gardens. Tented bush lodges

send out intimate whispers of plunge pools,

outdoor showers, and soft beds under the stars,

while a blend of German and Namibian warmth

and hospitality spills from the open doors of

charming guest houses and cosy cottages. If

your heart is in the right place, ensure you are

too.

Idyllic settings are perfect for those romantic

experiences. Walvis Bay offers Oysters galore

to set you in the mood, or captivate your lover’s

heart with a crayfish braai on the beach as the

sun sets to the west beyond the Atlantic Ocean.

Having swept your loved one off her feet, keep

her airborne! Floating slowly upwards and

drifting above the undulating carpet of dunes,

in a basket suspended from a hot-air balloon, is

perhaps the most graceful and romantic way of

experiencing Namibia. Except for the

occasional roar of the burner and the soft clink

of champagne flutes, the balloon is enveloped

in total silence and the beauty of the landscape

from this bird’s eye view will leave you

breathless.

Romantic, Magical

Mauritius

Clear blue water, white sandy beaches stretching for

miles, warm tropical climate and warm, friendly

hospitality, Mauritius, a tropical paradise, is

amongst the top five wedding and honeymoon

destinations in the world.

So whether you are planning an intimate, private

occasion or a more adventurous way of exchanging

your vows, Mauritius will make your dream wedding

and honeymoon come true.

Most hotels in Mauritius offer extensive wedding

and honeymoon packages, with a variety of value

adds such as discounted accommodation, free spa

or beauty treatments, fruit baskets, champagne,

excursions or private candle-lit dinners for two on

the beach.

Most hotels have experienced wedding planners

who will assist in organising your perfect wedding,

down to the very last detail. Hotels and/or tour

operators can arrange that wedding guests stay at a

separate hotel to the wedding couple. Not all

resorts can guarantee that there will be only one

wedding per day at the resort.

Mauritius has a variety of venues where one can get

married. There are the traditional locations such as

in the grounds of the hotel –on the beach, in the

beautiful gardens of the hotel or in a specially

decorated gazebo; in an old colonial house

following age-old traditions; in one of the island’s

ancient cathedrals; on a public beach or in a very

cultural way – inside an Indian temple. For the more

adventurous, say ‘I do’ on board a catamaran out at

sea or in a submersible.

Mauritius has a range of wedding ceremonies to

choose from, including Indian or Chinese. Religious

ceremonies can be arranged in a church or place of

worship of any faith. A civil wedding, performed in

Mauritius or your home country, will need to be

conducted before the religious ceremony.

There are some procedures and legal requirements

to remember when getting married in Mauritius,

please check these with the hotel or tour operator.

.

Page 27: Brides Essence Travel - 02

Let Mauritius make your honeymoon a magical

and memorable one with its variety of activities

from romantic walks on the beach and private

dinners overlooking the ocean Shop at an

assortment of markets where the stalls are laden

with spices, tropical fruit, exotic material, arts and

crafts.

Most hotels offer a range of water activities and

excursions including water-skiing, deep-sea diving

and fishing, snorkelling, windsurfing, surfing,

kayaking, sub-water walks, parasailing and more

or cruise on a fully catered catamaran cruise to Ile

aux Cerfs, coupled with water activities, music

and a mouth-watering lunch. For the adventurous

honeymooner there is hiking, cycling and a few

adventure parks with zip lining, walking with

lions, quad biking and much more.

Experience the tea route in the midlands or visit

the historical sites, such as a colonial house or

sugar plantation, museums or galleries. Visit the

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens,

commonly known as the Pamplemousses

Gardens, with its almost 300 year old gardens that

is home to dozens of varieties of palm trees, fish

ponds, medicinal plants and a breath-taking

collection of Queen Victoria water lilies.

The island of Mauritius is a 4-hour flight from

Johannesburg OR Tambo International airport, no

vaccinations or visas are required. It is a cultural

melting-pot of Indian, Creole, French, African and

Chinese – with a rich history, culture and

delectable cuisine. The Sega (pronounced

Saygah) is a dance which has its roots in mainland

Africa and is inspired by the ritual music of

Madagascar. This traditional dance is sure to

have you entranced! The friendly and welcoming

people, warm tropical climate, professional hotel

staff and an array of activities make Mauritius a

magical honeymoon destination.

A Mauritian honeymoon is a unique beginning to

wedded bliss with your true love…

HONEYMOON AT IDUBE GAME RESERVES MAKUBELA SUITES!

Idube Safari Lodge celebrated the new-year with the

opening of two new luxury chalets, the Makubela Suites.

These two elegant and spacious suites are named after one

of Idube’s much loved female leopards, Makubela, who after

being fatally injured by a male, returned to Idube’s gardens

to die.

Complimenting their existing ten chalets which were

extensively refurbished late last year, the two new secluded

suites are perfect for honeymooners and those seeking a

romantic getaway. Reached by meandering private

walkways, each has its own private splash pool, an indoor

and outdoor shower, as well as a game viewing deck

overlooking the dramatic bushveld. Room service and mini

bars are available in each of the air-conditioned suites,

which also boast rain water tanks as part of Idube’s eco-

friendly drive.

Situated within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, the lodge

boasts spectacular views of the riverbed and Shadulu Dam,

a favourite watering hole for elephants and other game.

Every effort has been made to conserve the environment

and reduce the carbon footprint - rain water is directed off

the roofs to a holding tank and is used to water the bush,

gas geysers have been installed in order to save electricity

and the bushveld surrounding the suites is completely

natural.

Makubela the leopard will always be remembered and Idube welcomes you to create your very own unforgettable memories...those that will last a lifetime. Tel: +27 11 431 1120 Fax: +27 11 431 3597 Email: [email protected] Photographs supplied by Idube Game Lodge.
