which lead to a better health, economic development and sustainable society.

ICE STUPA: MAKING WATER DURING SCARCITY SEASONLINKING TRADITION WITH INNOVATION
Invented by: Sonam Wangchuk in Ladakh (India).
Launched in: 2013, under the name ‘The Ice Stupa Project’.
About: Ice Stupa is a form of glacier grafting technique that creates artificial glaciers, used for
storing winter water (which otherwise would go unused) in the form of conical shaped ice heaps.
The invention leads to sustainable water supply solution in summer times in the whole region.
