Concept:
This brief is based on a live brief recieved from Purple lion, a sweden based music agency. I was asked to produce album art for the band: Operation nothing. The client specified that the band wanted a giant robot destroying a city on the front of the album , along with a proposal for the album design.

PRODUCT (01)The giant robot destroying a city. The image was created using a crossocer between illustrator and photoshop to achieve vector artworks and textured background. The original image was produced at A1 for scalability. This was sent to and approved by the client. 6 colour image plus 3 tints for each colour.
PRODUCT (02)An extension product, an illustration in response to the band’s single entitled: This song would be killer on tatooine. It was necessary for the illustration to look convincing and have an edge of humour. Image was created using referance imagery, adobe illustrator and adobe photoshop. Full colour image.
APPLICATION (01)Both illustrations were applied across a cd jewel case format and a promotional 7” record sleeve. The album illustration (robot) also had a protective slipcase applied to the cd and stickers were made for CD and physical record print. The coloured illustration translates much better in print, with all tones vibrant and eye catching.

This image was created using photoshop with type then being applied over the top of the image.The image was hi res so scalability without image quality degradation was not an issue.
The work was reformatted and put across an additional promotional poster for adshels and a flyer to be placed in record shops.two t shirts were also produced, one of the illustration and one of the band’s supplied logos.

CONTEXT /DISTRIBUTION The album and records would be distributed in small niche record shopsthat specialise in the genre of music (more inclined towards rock, punk and metal, with the band’s genre being pop punk.)
