Brief Industrial Profile of DARBHANGA District 1. General Characteristics of the District Darbhanga is a oldest district of Bihar and situated in the heart of Mithilanchal region of North Bihar. This is district is famous for its traditional Mithilanchal culture and Fish, Bettel & Makhana which is the part of all the festivals and ceremony of Darbhanga District.

1.1 Location & Geographical Area.
The Geographical Area of Darbhanga is 2279 sqkm. Which is located at the centre of Latitude: 25.53’- 26.27’ N & Longitude: 85.45’- 86.25’ E. The district has very rich & fertile land. It makes to cross 3 rivers viz. Koshi, Kamla Balan & Bagmati. All the three rivers originate from Nepal and cause severy damages of human lives, wealth & live stocks during flood in rainy season. They have been boom for the farmers also. As they have made the land very fertile.
The climate is cooler and damper. The cold weather stars early in the first week of November and the Hot weather begins towards the end of March and the rain from the later part of June.
The maximum temperature reaches up to 43⁰ Celsius. The average rain fall in the district is 1143mm.

Topography
Darbhanga ia situated at 26N10 latitude and 85E54 longitude. It’s climate is
dry and healthy. The summer season remains very hot. it receives 90% of
rainfall from mansoon. The average annual rainfall is 1142.3 mm. it’s area ia
2279 sq. km. The fertile soil of koshi and kamala supports variety of

vegetation but devoid of forest. The flood is a common phenomenon
bringing devastation in this region almost every year being the region in the
low elevation zone. Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, saharsa and
samastipur are it’s surrounding districts.

The district is headed by District Magistrate
under him DDCs then ADMs are posted for
looking after the general administration,
development and land reformers. At every
division there is sub divisional officer called SDO
and in every block Block Development Officer
