Design Principles – Big Picture
• „ONE CONFERENCE” built around the theme that reflects the
conversations of our past ODN | IODA conferences & the 2010 OD World
Summit
• „AN EPIC MILESTONE EVENT OF OUR PROFESSION” nurturing the
best of both ODN’s and IODA’s traditions
• „A GLOBAL GATHERING” that brings all continents and the World of OD
together in Portland
• „A TRUE EXPERIENCE” that inspires, creates new opportunities,
strengthens networks and builds strong bonds
• „CONNECTING COMMUNITIES” that generates momentum, energy and
commitment to „ACT AND FLOURISH TOGETHER”
• „LEAVING A POSITIVE FOOTPRINT” through being in touch with and
contributing to the local environment and community

About The Themes • „OUR FIELD, OUR WORLD, OUR IMPACT”
Our themes this year will guide us through the 1+3 days spent together:
• DAY 1 - On the first day (Sunday) it will help us focus our attention on our roots and on what’s going on in Our Field as we speak. What are some of the most important, relevant, pressing questions and dilemmas we are facing as a community of practice today?
• DAY 2 - On the second day (Monday) we will explore together the changes around us and we will look at what do we as “OD practitioners” do in or state of the art projects around the globe. What does OD mean and provide currently to the World locally and globally?
• DAY 3 - On the third day (Tuesday) based on the insights and inspirations of the first days we will have a look at examples of impactful interventions and initiatives. How can we make a difference in our organizations and in the World?
• Pre-conference and additional activities/receptions

ODWS 2015 Design Principles - Vision
• An “intervention” in the field of OD that appreciates the best of who we are, what we do and the impact we have while challenging us to grow and evolve
• An opportunity for us to practice dialogue [with/among ourselves and others] and to walk our talk – can we embody OD values as we come together as a global community?
• An invitation for reflection so we can leverage and promote the field as a whole, as well as support communities of practice and individual practitioners
• Facilitation of a larger dialogue for the field through all Summit attendees, regardless of role/function
• Everyone is a contributor regardless of role/function. Everyone is invited to build on the idea of others so the community learns and grows together.
• Our relationships are strengthened through common experience, innovation, deep listening to one another and the possibility of co-creating insight and opportunity
• We have learned from other professions/disciplines/sciences/schools of thought and practice
#ODNIODA15 | 13
Our request of you…
• Please link your session to the themes of the
conference so that we can all present a unified,
seamless experience to participants
• Keep in mind that we have attendees from around the
world whose first language is not English and who may
need additional explanation for any culturally-based
references
– Speaking slowly is also important!

Our request of you…Making a difference
We have a vision that the conference will make a difference for
participants – in our lives, our practice and in the world. Therefore, we
want to invite participants to take notes after each session, and be
willing to discuss the impact of the conference at a final plenary session
before the close on Tuesday.
At the end of your session, we have two requests:
• If you are willing, we are asking each of you to take 1-2 minutes to
ask the following question of participants: “How will this session
make a difference for me, my practice and our world?”
– In the mobile app there is a “notes” section within the session details
• Kindly invite participants to complete an evaluation of the session on
the App
