Briefing on
Direct School Admission
(DSA)
15 March 2014
Introduction
DSA-Sec Exercise was introduced in 2004
as part of MOE's move towards creating
more flexibility and options for students
Admission exercise to allow participating
schools to select some P6 students for
admission to Secondary 1 based on their
achievements and talents before the PSLE
results are released
Provides students an opportunity to
demonstrate a more diverse range of
achievements and talents in seeking
admission to a secondary school
DSA Exercise is for all specialised
schools, independent schools,
autonomous schools and schools with
approved niche programmes
Participating secondary schools are
able to select a certain percentage of
their students for admission outside of
the centralised sec one posting exercise
They decide their own admission
criteria

Considerations :
1) Know your child :
- Does she want to continue in that CCA in the secondary school?
- Manage her expectations, stress level and morale in applying for DSA
2) Understand the school
- Culture, vision, mission and values
- CCAs / Special Programmes
- Match between the school’s strengths / niche and your child’s talents
Do note P6 students have a choice whether or not to
participate in the DSA-Sec. If they choose not to participate in the DSA-Sec, they will participate in the Secondary One Posting Exercise after the release of the PSLE results.
Students who opt for a school under DSA-Sec must achieve PSLE results that would enable them to be eligible for admission to the course being offered by their opted DSA-Sec schools.
Applicants admitted to a school through DSA-Sec
will not be allowed to participate in the annual
Secondary One Posting Exercise.
Applicants who are admitted to the secondary
schools because of their CCA achievements will be
obliged to continue in that CCA
