Bright HorizonsHow I’m Helping...
Alpha Chi Omega Sorority at QuinnipiacUniversity presented a check for $23,850to The Umbrella Center for DomesticViolence Services (UCDVS) last month.
The sorority has been providing supportfor domestic violence victims for over 23years.
At Alpha Chi Omega’s 1992 National Convention, delegates voted toadopt the support of domestic violence victims as a national altruistproject. The ght against domestic violence is one taken to heart byeach member of the Quinnipiac chapter as one of their own sisters, tragically passed in 1998 as a result of domestic violence.
Alpha Chi Omega holds an annual Frisbee Fest in honor of Liz and itis their largest philanthropic event of the year. The fun-lled event
includes “Pie an Alpha Chi”, a barbeque, rafes and, of course, theFrisbee tournament. Their chapter also hosts “Walk a Mile in HerShoes” - a relay race where both men and women run in high heels.
In addition to these fundraisers, eachsister raises $150. While this is theminimum requirement, most women raisubstantially more.
“Alpha Chi Omega and QuinnipiacUniversity should be commended for theoutstanding commitment to reach out t
those who have suffered at the hands of abuse,” says Susan DeLeonDirector of UCDVS.“ We applaud their spirit of giving and the loyaltthey have demonstrated through their hard work to raise muchneeded funds.”
