ADOL 45 fatty alcohol has a unique affinity for glass surfaces. It also is a high-class binder for glass frit. Adding up those two facts, you can quickly see why Adol 45 is used when bottle manufacturers need to emboss letters on the bottle surface . . . the name of a popular refreshing soft drink, for example. Adol 45, 12-hydroxystearyl alcohol, possesses a high enough melting point to give formulation flexibility with a good set up temperature. AROCHEM hard resins have long found favor in the ink business. Outstanding examples of this versatilefamily are Arochem 534, 460, 475, 404, 455 and 339. They range in uses from flexo-graphic and litho to rotogravure and steam set inks. Arochem 460, for example, is used as a gloss additive for milk cartons. Conventional inks on the new non-wax coatings tend to leave a dull imprint. Arochem 460 puts the snap and sparkle back. You might also note Arochem 475. In conjunction with polyamides, it is the product of choice in flexographic inks for printing polyethylene jugs and squeeze containers.
