Past Involvement´ Family known since 2008 with concerns being raised mainly about
the guidance and boundaries in the home – at this time they were supported by a CAF plan.
´ Further concerns were raised in 2013 and the family were supported through a Child in Need Plan.
´ In December 2014, Dad was arrested for the unlawful physical chastisement of his eldest daughter, Lottie. Dad wasn’t allowed unsupervised contact with his children and Lottie was sent to her grandparents. The family was in chaos and relationships with professionals were poor.
´ And this is where I joined the family on their journey….
Six long months….´ Building trust
´ Involving others
´ Supporting with behaviour
´ Finally reaching a point where I no longer feared a phone call from Mum
´Lottie made another disclosure of unlawful physical chastisement by Dad – he was arrested and sent away.
´All of the children were distraught and parents and professionals alike were concerned about how Mum would cope by herself.
What’s working well?´ Mum and Dad found this really difficult but eventually we managed
to fill an A3 sheet!
What are we worried about?´ Mum and Dad had lots of worries and found it very emotional
Scaling´ Mum and Dad really surprised everyone with their
perception during scaling.´ Lottie and her siblings found this a really easy way of
letting the adults know how they were feeling.

Safety planning: the development of “Spider Bessy” and the house
rules
Exhausting… but I’m feeling very positive
about everything It was nice to hear
the good stuff – I forget about that when she’s kicking
off!
Mum and Dad’s thoughts on signs of safety
I loved calling the shed Spider
Bessy!
I liked doing the numbers.
We chose the rules and Mum and Dad had
to listen!!!
It was fun –we all said
good things.
