Hounslow Council is pleased to announce the opening of a new extra care scheme. The purpose-built Bristol Court development in Feltham has 94 homes and will open in late Summer 2019. Bristol Court is a Hounslow Housing development with care and support delivered by a leading provider in this field. What is extra care housing?

Extra care housing is sometimes known as very sheltered housing, assisted living, or simply as housing with care. You have the security and privacy of your own home with access to care and support on-site to enable you to live independently. It is an increasingly popular choice for people whose abilities/disabilities or frailty make their current housing and care provision unsuitable but who do not need or want to move to long-term care, such as a residential or nursing home.

What services are available on site?

Bristol Court offers excellent onsite services, including:• A restaurant

• A communal lounge

• Changing Places facility

• A laundry

• Activity rooms

• Gardens

• Hairdresser and therapy room

• Telecare devices to support independent living

• CCTV for added security and peace of mind

• A scheme manager and 24/7 staff team on site to provide the necessary care and support.

There are a total of 94 homes (86 one-bedroom and 8 two-bedroom), each with their own bedroom, accessible shower room, lounge, and modern kitchen. Nine flats are adapted for wheelchair users.

Support for those with dementia

There are 12 homes providing specialist dementia support, which have been designed to ensure the colour scheme, fixtures and layout provide a dementia friendly environment. Amenities include a dedicated dementia garden and communal lounges.

Support for those with learning disabilities

There are 15 homes (including 2 two-bedroom) around a communal garden providing specialist support for residents with learning disabilities. Other amenities include a communal lounge and Changes Places facility.

Who is suitable for Bristol Court extra care housing?

You may be suitable if you are an adult living in the borough of Hounslow and have a combination of housing and care and support needs, which require assistance with daily living tasks, and one or more of the below apply:

• Frailty due to age,

• Physical or sensory disability,

• Learning disability and/or autism, or

• Dementia or a working diagnosis of dementia.
