Partnership Portfolio (July 2009-March 2012) Background Notes Connecting Classroom Sub-Saharan Africa aims to: Broaden the international view of young people in the UK and Africa Ensure perceptions of young people in Africa and the UK will no longer be governed by stereotypes and there will be an increase in knowledge of elements of UK culture in Africa and vice-versa Develop skills among young people to equip them to live in a global economy Ensure teachers are committed to international partnership work and are equipped to embed and sustain these partnerships within their schools. Create relationships are based on mutual understanding and a genuine equity in transactions Contribute to the international dimension of the school curriculum in Africa and the UK Each partnership must complete a Partnership Portfolio which details how the Education Authorities and schools will work together over a three year period and considers how the partnership will contribute to the aims and objectives of the overall programme. The attached Partnership Portfolio template has been designed, with significant help from practising teachers involved in international school partnerships and should be completed collaboratively with input from learners and educators in all participating schools. It should help partners to: Agree activity and projects that support educational themes for learners and educators Create opportunities for young people to be involved in the planning, delivery and evaluation of the partnership Give a framework within which all partners can work individually and together Provide evidence to British Council to support their continued resourcing of the programme and partnership This document should be seen as a working document which is reviewed by the partnership each year and adapted according to 1
