The Williams School works with each child to build and enduring
foundation for academic, moral and social success. A Williams School
student embodies integrity, confidence and a love of learning.
Dear Williams School Families,
You should have heard the students excitedly whisper to each other during Wednesdays assemblywhen I announced that our 8th graders were traveling to Disney World this week as the culminatingexperience of their time at Williams. This trip is something every student looks forward to in ourschool and all the excitement clearly showed how much our students want to be part of thatexperience. Thankfully, two of our faculty members, Shawn Etter and Emily Justesen are makingsure all of our students are well taken care of and that they get the most of all the fun and educationalofferings they can while there.
Traditionally, while the current student leadership of the school is away, we hold 8th grade classelections. I hold dear the unique way we elect our only class officers at the school. The 7th graders(our rising 8th graders) nominate a slate of candidates themselves and then quietly vote on whomthey would like to lead them for their coming final year at Williams. No campaigning allowed at all. Ithas to be a true vote of conscience. This year, the class chose the following students as their 2011-2012 class leadership team: Ben will be President; Matthew will be Vice President; Caroline will serveas Secretary and Gabe will be the class Treasurer. This will be a great eighth grade year coming up!
We offer meaningful leadership positions and entrust leadership in all of our students. Whether its inGirls on the Run, Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts, The Oyster Project, The Recycling Project, The Zero
Waste Initiative, Honor Council, SCA, Peer Mentoring, Sports Program, Band Program and our VisualArts Program, our faculty helps our students find multiple ways to build and maintain their voice andhelp to raise up others voices.
Honor before Honors,
Jay

Teacher Work Day
Dear Parents,
I hope that this letter finds you well and you are getting excited for the summer break and relief from
homework. As you know, springtime at Williams means several important things: the school play (Wasn't Intothe Woods great?), the band concert (Once again Karen Jackson worked her magic and put it all together!),
and finally the GOLF TOURNAMENT!
We plan to have another great afternoon next Thursday, 5/26, at Cedar Point in Suffolk, to help raise money
for the Athletic Programs and the Leroy T. Canoles, Jr. Library Fund. We are having great response so far, but
are in need of a few more teams and sponsors to make the tournament a HUGE success. (And, if youre on the
fence about whether or not to play, please know that its a really fun time and well get you paired with a
great team, so dont let that stop you!) I realize we are all busy and the last thing we need to do is try and
take next Thursday afternoon off, but if you can find a way, we really could use your help. (Tony Cetrone, Dan
Neumann, Eric Lowe, myself and others will bring pre-written doctors notes... I'll have the funny dilationglasses with mine.)
The conditions at Cedar Point have never been better, and they will be perfect if you are able to play with us
next Thursday!
Thanks,
George Pegram & Eric Miller
PS: The weather forecast for next Thursday is 84 and sunny!
