4 Key Principles ofCommunicative Teaching

No translation in classStudent and teacher speak only in thelanguage being learned, so you willthink and speak Spanish from thebeginning!

Teacher rotationThis will expose you to many differentpronunciations and vocabularies, ensuring that you understand thelanguage in a variety of situations.Teacher rotation also keeps class freshand interesting.

Emphasis on communicationWe focus on speaking and listening.Grammar, reading, and writing are allincluded, but we teach it through a verypractical approach. You will speak thelanguage, not analyze it.

Materials and homeworkAssignments wil l give you theopportunity to continue your languagelearning outside the classroom and tosupplement your conversationalpractice with reading and writing.

Our method concerns twoimportant points: acommunicative teachingmethodology and outstandingstudent support. As a studentat Bridge you will learn to speakSpanish quickly while enjoyingyour time in Argentina. Wepromise!

Communicative TeachingMethodology

BridgeArgentina students are oftensurprised at how quickly they learn tospeak Spanish. Bridge’s methodologyteaches you to use Spanish in practical, everyday situations, such as traveling, meeting people, using the telephone, conducting business, and participating inconversations. “This year, we both took the intensive Spanishlanguage program at Bridge Buenos Airesbecause we feel that Spanish is necessary fordaily living in South America; this is especiallytrue for areas outside of Buenos Aires, whereour experience has been that without Spanish,we would have had great difficulty in renting acar, asking for directions, or making travelplans. In addition, being able to communicatewith your neighbor, the person you meet in thepark or the supermarket, or the person sittingnext to you on the bus, really enhances theexperience of living in South America. For us,travel is more about who you meet rather thanwhat you see.”
