About us
IES doo is the engineering company, subsidiary of Italferr S.p.A. (the Italian Engineer and Supervision of
works Company belonging to the State Railways Group) based in the Republic of Serbia.
Italferr holds the 100% of capital and has made this strategic choice with the aim of transferring the
better and finest engineering traditions, that represents one of the first strength of Italferr, to the young
Serbian sister Company.
IES is a new young company, born in 2012, that has decided to be on the market to demonstrate the
capability to provide multi-disciplinary services and comprehensive designs in the road and railway
sector. A highly qualified staff provides a professional mix covering the whole range of civil engineering
for infrastructures.

IES doo in his short life has already developed, in conjunction with Italferr, design on the Serbian,
European and International markets in the field of infrastructure engineering.
The Company staff consists of all Serbian engineers, they have been formed by experienced Italferr
engineers, who have transferred their knowledge and specialized know-how. The Italian engineers will
continue to supervise the activities of the young Serbian colleagues to let them grow at the best.
The team of engineers if constantly followed, in Belgrade, from a very well experienced Engineering
manager (Mr. Colella) and from a Technical Coordinator (Mr. Amodio) with great experience in the
railway equipment’s technology, he is also in charge for business development.

IES projects
Projects in ITALY
In Italy IES has been involved in a formal Joint-Venture with Italferr in a Contract to provide engineering services to Trenitalia, which is the primary train operator in Italy.
The service provided and to be provided (in the next two years) by Contract includes the design of all maintenance depots to be extended for the new Trenitalia train float, both for conventional trains and for the new high speed trains Frecciarossa (that will run at a commercial speed of 360 km/h).

Project “Savona”: Potenziamento OMR Savona In order to organize the train maintenance network In Liguria (Northern Italy), Trenitalia decided to build new sheds in Savona. The new buildings consist of:
Industrial shed for train maintenance with annexed canopy,
Industrial shed for wheel repair works,
Service and store building,
Enlargement of building #1 and #2 for locomotive maintenance.

Project “Napoli” main design: Progetto definitivo di nuova copertura del ”Fascio Gianturco” Today in Naples there is a maintenance area for high speed trains. To allow starting from year 2015 the maintenance of the new high speed rolling stock (ETR 1000) it is necessary to realize some structural modification to the existing buildings. General layout Location of the structure The Project “Napoli” is made of the main design of the new canopy for train maintenance called “Fascio Gianturco”. It is part of the Global upgrading project of the “IMC Napoli Centrale”. Main activity performed by IES on the “Napoli” project have been:
Main design of the structure
The canopy covers 4 tracks over an area approximately 9.000 m2, with an height of 13m. The structure is a steel structure designed on already existing concrete foundations. Inside the new canopy 2 cranes are previewed with an operation capacity of 1,2 tons each.

Project “Martesana”: Potenziamento IMC Milano Martesana per ETR 1000. Today Martesana plants consist of two sheds in which high speed trains maintenance is operated. Existing sheds shall be demolished in order to realize new structure for new high speed train float maintenance (ETR 1000). The length of the new shed is 340 m, the width is 24+7=31m, inside are provided three tracks with underlying inspection trenches for the train made up to 12 coaches.

Project “Croatia”: Upgrade/Construction of second track and construction of New double-track line on sub-section of railway line Hrvatski Leskovac – Karlovac
The project includes the doubling of the line and the modernization of the existing track along 30 km and the creation of a new double track railway line along 25 km, including the renewal of two stations and the construction of two new ones. The section is part of Corridor Vb, connecting port of Rijeka with Zagreb and Budapest. IES is supporting Italferr for the activities of:
Development and revision of Preliminary and main design,
Feasibility study,
Traffic technology study,
Project management. Total length of railway line Hrvatski Leskovac – Karlovac is 39,769 km, divided in sections A, B and C.

Project “Oman”: Consultancy services for preliminary design for Oman National Railway Project
The National Railway Project in the Sultanate of Oman will consist of about 2244 km of railway line divided in 9 segments. Linking Omani border with UAE (at Al Ain and Khatmat Milahah) to Muscat, as part of GCC Railway Network, and to the southern parts of the country at Port of Ad Duqm and Salalah and to Yemen border.
Layout of the segment 1 IES has been asked by Italferr to develop the Preliminary Design on first Railway Segment of the line. And soon will proceed with the next 8 Segments. The 1th Segment of the railway line is 171 km length and consists of three subsections (1a, 1b, 1c). Main activities performed by IES on the Oman project are:

Project “Republic of Serbia and FYR Macedonia”: Consultancy services for Lender’s Monitor Advisor Corridor X”.
Italferr has been awarded by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for the Contract
of Lender’s Monitor Advisor. IES has been involved by Italferr in the role of “assistant on site” of the
Team Leader to better monitor and follow the two Projects that the Contract intend to Monitor (from July
2011 till November 2016).
SERBIA CORRIDOR X RAILWAY PROJECT
Material procurement for track renewal works on sections:
• Sopot Kosmajski – Kovačevac (17,522 m) • Vinarce – Đorđevo (15,015 m) • Vranjska Banja - Ristovac (17,723 m) • Bujanovac - Bukarevac (13,759 m) • Mala Krsna – Velika Plana (29,460 m) • Golubinci - Ruma (17,889 m)
In total: length of 112 km
Serbian Railways concluded the Loan Agreement with EBRD, in 2010, in the amount of EUR 100 million, for financing:
• PART A: Rehabilitation of Railway Lines, • PART B: Locomotives, • PART C: Consultants.
IES supports Italferr in monitoring of the implementation of the program of procurement of new track material for rehabilitation of the railway lines along the sections of the Corridor X through Serbia.
