About the ConferenceThe contemporary business milieu implies continuous efforts towards better understanding and coping
with the challenges of the modern era characterized by ongoing global crisis, intense competition and the
imperatives for making changes, which are widely acclaimed to have placed special and overwhelming
demands on our business panorama. Unarguably, the key to success in this severe, multifarious, ever
changing and a highly competitive environment is going to be the effective creation, diffusion, and execution
of scientic and interdisciplinary knowledge in the eld of business and its related areas. However, in the
backdrop of the acknowledgement of the importance of the unique context (social, political and cultural
background) of the emerging economies in the creation and diffusion of knowledge, new realities are
unfolding, new business and economic issues are emerging and new insights can be gained and utilized to
address, conceptualize and theorize these new realities. These are interesting challenges for the academia
and the practitioners alike to take on and to make valuable contributions in a bid to make our organizations
highly dynamic and competitive. Towards this direction, the department intends to provide a platform in its
3-Day National Conference on the Contemporary Issues in Business, Management and Finance to the
academia, researchers, practitioners, experts from multi-disciplinary interests for scholarly discussion and
meaningful discourse on the various issues our corporate world is fraught with.
Objectives of the Conference
To understand and deliberate upon the multifariuos and ever changing business scenario prevalent in
India;
To identify the emerging areas thereof and to explore the opportunities & challenges; and
To integrate both conceptual and empirical research that shall link knowledge to different Industry
contexts.
The conference invites theoretical and empirical papers as well as case studies relating to all contemporary
areas of Accounting, Banking, Economics, Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing, Entrepre-
neurship, Corporate Governance & Restructuring, Business Ethics, Strategic Management and other Busi-
ness disciplines. Interested participants may submit their papers/articles/ case studies on the
themes contained but not limited to the following areas:

The University
University of Kashmir which came into being in 1948 is located in the laps of two precious jewels
of nature, the Dal Lake & the Nigeen Lake in the town of Hazratbal, which is ten kilometres
away from the city centre, Lal Chowk. The lush green campus with delightful natural surroundingswith the Himalayan Mountains in the background is spread over an area of 263 acres of land.
The University has made steady progress in terms of academic growth and expansion, housing
presently 8 Faculties with 48 Teaching Departments and 13 Research Centres. In recognition of its
great academic achievements, the University was awarded Grade A by NAAC. As an expansion
plan, the University has developed two campuses, one at Anantnag (South Campus) and another at
Baramullah (North Campus).

The Department of Business & Financial Studies (DBFS)
Department of Business & Financial Studies was established in 1970. It offers PG Programmes in Commerce
(M.Com.) and in Finance (MFC). The admission to MFC programme is based on MAT/CAT score of the
candidates desirous to seek admission in the said programme. The Department with nearly 40 scholars
currently on rolls undertakes research on the most burning and upcoming issues confronting the business
organizations in the country in general and the state in particular. The Department has modernized
infrastructure with well equipped library, centralized computer lab with Internet facility, LCD Projectors.
The Department encourages continuous interface with industry through internships, projects, workshops,
guest lecturers etc. It aims at developing the budding managers with a sense of initiative and accountability
necessary for their overall personality development full of ethical and intellectual vigour. The department
cherishes the admirable faculty members who have excellent publications and research records in their
chosen elds of specializations.
