THE DESIGNER ELA ACOSTA

A designer since 2006 and born a Venezuelan, Ela

found her first inspiration in polyurethan, a material

coming from the very same oil extracted of the

Venezuelan soil. Ela is always looking for innovation,

strongly believes in knowledge, talent, technology and

everything allowing the world to reach a real

development. For her, it is necessary to transcend

from the current Age of Petroleum and fossil energies

to a new Age of Light, where economic growth is not

only green, but also more human, as it is supported

by new humanistic theories like philantrocapitalism

and social entrepeneurship. Ela is sure that this new

way to understand development, involves the return

to hand-made clothes and the respect for each

worker as a craftsmen; she strongly opposes the

model of the great centers of manufacture around

the world, where humans are nothing more than a

tool for mass production.

Ela’s background includes: Art Studies in Pinacoteca di Brera and Fashion Design in

Marangoni Institute, both at Milan; Digital Illustration in Centro Art, Caracas; Research on VFX

and 3D, using Mudbox and ZBrush; she also holds a Bachelor Degree on Liberal Arts from

Universidad Metropolitana, giving her a profound understanding of the realities and

problems of today’s globalized world.

After brief but enriching internship experiences with the Venezuelan designer Angel

Sanchez at New York, and with the Dutch conceptual designer Iris Van Herpen at

Amsterdam, Ela is ready to pour into ELA ACOSTA all her energy, talent, knowledge and

feelings.

DESIGNVALUESBased on innovation, talent, knowledge and

technology, the brand designs to create

consciousness about the need of humanity to

transcend towards the Era of Light, representing it

with prêt-a-porter and conceptual clothes capable

of answering the needs of contemporary

individuals.

“Economics can be defined as the study of

scarcity, whereas art and product design, sublime

us to the values of collaboration and abundance.

Competition and efficiency in our mindset are not

the priority anymore”.

ELA ACOSTA’S INNOVATIVE LINES

Page 5: Brochure web (1)

SPORTIVDestined to entrepreneurs and decision makers, this line of tailored pieces

comes from a reminiscence of the era of light, excellent for elegant yet

active lifestyle. ELA ACOSTA designs its own and exclusive colorful fabrics,

which are later exquisitely merged with mesh linings, allowing the creation

of light weight pieces with both comfort and movement. Besides, these

pieces also favor body shape with its ergonomic design.

This hybrid concept of active wear and tailored structures, comes from

mixing contemporary light fabrics with the knowledge and techniques of

Italian Sartorias. ELA ACOSTA takes this important legacy and adapts it for

today’s society, where bolder dressing codes are now accepted to define

the way we socialize and interact in our business relationships.

CONCEPTUAL POLYURETHANE WEAR

This line is extremely limited, and each piece is designed and developed for

research and performances, by request only. This line of conceptual wear is

inspired by ancient techniques, which ELA ACOSTA mixes with architectural

fabrics to create shape-shifting silhouettes and powerful structural strands

of polyurethane. They build up as fractals to create dresses, capes, shoes

and a wide range of pieces, thanks to the use of software used normally for

architectural design, like Rhino, 3d max, maya, and zbrush.

This brand finds is main target on entertainment industry and scientific

research, where both art and product design merge; this combination

aspires for new discoveries, new findings, and new procedures regarding

innovative material functions. Overall, with the Conceptual Wear line, ELA

ACOSTA seeks for visionary inventions and prototypes of new gears to be

worn by future generations.

The brand investigate solutions and push forward the reach of our product

design, through a constant seek for collaborations and involvement in a

various range of developments, where industrial design, architecture and

technology are mixed for hybrid results.
