    How do I apply?

    1. Complete the application form,

    2. Enclose a copy of your 3rd Quarter Report

    Card.

    3. Two completed teacher recommendation

forms, which should be enclosed in a separate,

signed envelope, or can be sent separately.

The dates of the program are June 25, 2010 to Fri-

day, July 30, 2010. Anyone with conflicting obliga-

    tions should not apply.

If you are accepted, there will be an additional $50

    enrollment fee.

The deadline for applications Friday, May 7.

  • What subjects are covered?

Students will attend classes aimed at improving

skills and providing enrichment in English,

math, and technology. You will have an oppor-

tunity to get new skills and confidence to enable

you to be a success in high school and in col-

    lege.

But you don’t have to take our word for it, here’s

what some students had to say about the pro-

    gram:

    Computers:

“It was lots of fun using the laptop, but it was

even more fun when I got to take it home. I

guess all of the work did pay off.”

    English:

“English is one of my weak subjects, but Col-

lege Prep’s teacher taught me how to write bet-

ter and more clearly. I’m very grateful for the

    teacher at College Prep.”

    Math:

“I met the math teacher and he made math fun. It

didn’t feel challenging. He taught us things that I

learned the next year in school.”

Laptop Computers! Students who meet all of the requirements of suc-

cessful completion of the program will qualify to

receive a laptop computer. It is College Prep’s

goal to address the “digital divide” by helping its

    participants to improve

    their computer skills to use

in school and out of school,

as well as to earn a com-

    puter to take home with

    them. In this way, students

    prepare to meet the chal-

    lenges not only of college,

but also of life in the 21st

    century.

College Prep goes to College… In addition to knowledge of math, English, and tech-

nology, students will have a chance to learn more

about the experience of college. We will visit local

universities, and you will get to see what different

schools are really like and learn about the college

    applications process.

Most importantly, we will spend one week living on

a college campus, getting the whole experience

    of college life —

    classrooms, dorm

    rooms, campus

    activities, and the

    cafeteria.

    Where is College Prep?

On the campus of William Penn Charter School,

in the East Falls / Germantown area, on School

House Lane. (Tokens will be provided.)

    What are the program dates?

We meet every day, Monday through Friday,

beginning Friday, June 25, 2010, and ending

    Friday, July 30, 2010.

    What time are the classes?

    Class time begins

    at 8:45 a.m. sharp

    and concludes at

    a pp rox ima t e l y

    1:30 p.m.

    What does it cost?

Remarkably, the total cost for the program is

    $50 (a $10 application fee and a $40 dollar

enrollment fee). This is all that is required in

order to receive quality instruction, materials,

lunch and tokens, and a new laptop to every

student who successfully completes the pro-

    gram.

    “Math class moves outside!”
