He was a resident of Arcadia, FL at the timeof his death. He died of complications of histreatment for lung cancer.
He was born September 11, 1940 in Louis-ville, KY. His parents were H. Earl Bott andEdith Pulliam Bott. Schools he attended inLouisville: St. Frances Rome Elementary,Barrett Junior High, Atherton High, and hegraduated from Eastern High School in 1958.He obtained Bachelor of Science and JurisDoctor degrees from the University of
Louisville, graduating in 1977. He was amember of the Kentucky and Florida BarAssociations, and practiced civil law inNaples, FL.
He retired from law in 1988 to pursue hislifelong interests in music and art. He was aKentucky Colonel and a musician member ofseveral bands, including: Cosmo and TheCounts, Pontius and The Pilates, BeargrassBluegrass, Sleepy Hollow Bluegrass, Clover-leaf, and, at the time of his death was playingin Florida, with Southwind Bluegrass. He wasa founding member of the Southwest FloridaBluegrass Association and a member ofHeartland Bluegrass Association.
He enjoyed performing to live audiences andshared his humor and wit in stories and come-dy, as well as his virtuosity in acoustic guitarand resophonic guitar (Dobro), as well as oth-er instruments. His recent published musicCDs, include: “Cloverleaf Live in MountainView, Arkansas” and “Close to Home.” Healso did session work and produced CDs forother musicians.
His interests and achievements in art, in-cluded: Landscape and Portrait Painting, LineDrawings, Computer Graphics, and Web PageDesigns. His collective art and music workswill be published in an online Gallery, by hisson, Richard Bott, Jr. “Richie,” by mid-sum-mer 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, JoyceElaine McCullum Bott, of Arcadia, FL, hisson, Richard Earl Bott, Jr., of Los Angeles,CA, his sister, Susan Bott Walther (Clarence)of Seymour, IN and his uncle, The ReverendJames B. Lewis of Louisville, KY.
