Small and Speedy Finds Way To Success
By: Broderick Snoddy
Once there was a little boy name Broderick who
wanted to play football. So one day he and his
mother were sitting down at the dinner table.
Broderick said to his mother, “I want to play
football.”
Broderick was small compared to the other kids.
Because of his small size he had to play a year of
flag football before playing tackle football.
When he got home from practice he said, “Mom,
why can’t I play tackle with the big boys?”
She said, “One day, son. Just stay focused because
you can do anything you put your mind too.” As
Broderick was listening to his mother he imagined
himself playing tackle football. He knew at that
moment to be successful, he would need to be
focused and work hard.
Broderick was working on his skills to play tackle
football he was introduced to another sport that he
thought he would be better at. That sport was running
track.
When Broderick was running track he started
winning first place medals. By winning first place
medals Broderick started to feel good about
himself, like he could do anything, just like his
mother told him.
Even though Broderick was really good at running
track, he wouldn't let anything stop him from his
goal of playing tackle football. Finally he reached
eight years old and he could play tackle football.
In his first year of playing tackle football he did
well running the football. When Broderick got
older he started to understand the game more.
At the age of ten his running skills were so good
that he was invited to play in an all star football
game at the Georgia Dome.
During the game at the Georgia Dome some-
thing spoke to him and said, “You can actually
be a great football player if you stay focused
and stick to it.”
From that day forward Broderick kept playing
football and got better each day.
Broderick stayed strong and kept reaching for his
goal to be a great football athlete. He knew if he
was a great football athlete he would receive a
football scholarship to attend college.
Broderick was small and speedy and listened to
his mother, which helped him reach success.
