The presentation will outline 0 the purpose of the group0 members of the group0 terms of reference 0 what has been achieved so far0 future plans of the group
ANZMRRNMoving collaborative research forward for RTs
Background
0Concept introduced in 2012 at the TRW at TROG0A steering committee across Australia and NZ has
been formed 0 RTs0 Data managers0 Academics
Aim
0The aim of this project is to provide a freely available research network to bring Australian and New Zealand radiation therapists (RTs) together in all aspects of research
Purpose of the network
0To develop high quality RT led multi-disciplinary research projects that will benefit patients and staff across Australia and New Zealand
0 Improve communication and collaboration between RT researchers in Australia and New Zealand
0To facilitate international networking and collaboration opportunities 0 Initially with the Canadian Radiation Researchers
through a link to the Canadian Radiation Research Network
Purpose of the Network
0To provide resources and educational tools about research for novice researchers
0Facilitate multi-centre research projects0Facilitate the path to publishing and the quality of
publications written by RTs0Share and transfer knowledge through mentorship
Outcomes
0An increase in RT participation in research0Development of high quality research projects driven
by RTs0 Increase capacity to develop high quality RT driven
research that will benefit patients and staff through evidence based practice
0 Improved publication record
Endpoint
Endpoint
0Primary endpoint is to have:0 Improved the current RT workforce capacity to generate
high quality multi-centre research projects that directly benefit Radiation therapy care in Australian and New Zealand
0This will happen through collaboration via a central research network
0Of equal importance is to assist novice researchers to engage in research activities though provision of useful research materials and mentorship
What's happened so far?
0Discussions around structure and content of the web space and network
0TROG will host the website 0Looking to ask the PAEB for enough funding for the
web-space and about a o.4 FTE project officer0A short survey to be distributed to all Australian and
NZ RTs to inform the development of the network
The Survey
0To provide the most relevant framework the questionnaire will cover 0 Your current level of research involvement0 Your thoughts on the Network0 Any additional support required
0Ethics has been approved0Email distribution to all registered RTs in Australia
