Jesus Is The Reason For The Season Advent is a spiritual journey that we Christians take through the truths of the scripture that point to the birth of the Messiah and to a reaffirmation that He has come, and is present in the world today, and He will come again in His glory. Advent mirrors the journey of faith that Christians make after the moment of realization and acceptance of who Jesus is and for whom He came. Week 1 - Jeremiah 33:14-16, Luke 21:25-36 “Anticipation” Week 2 - Malachi 3:1-4, Luke 3:1-6 “Prepare Ye the Way” Week 3 - Zephaniah 3:14-20, Philippians 4:4-7 “Joy!” Week 4 - Micah 5:2-5a, Hebrews 10:5-10 “The Fulfillment of God’s Promise” Christmas Day - Luke 2:14-15, 20-21 “Good News! She recalls receiving her education from a special teacher who taught everyone in a one room school. Furthermore, she remembers how she enjoyed playing basketball with her brothers. Sister Morrison spent most of her life working on the farm. Her father managed many farms and it became a family occupation for everyone. During the war she worked at Fort Bragg in the Laundry Department for five years. Soon after, she returned to work on the farm followed by employment as a domestic for more than fifteen years. Sister Morrison met the love of her life, Charles Lee Morrison while working on the farm in North Carolina. They journeyed to Baltimore in 1953 and soon married in 1954. From this union they were blessed with a son, Edward Morrison. In 1983 after 29 years of marriage, her husband; Charles Lee Morrison went home to be with God. Kessie and Charles joined Brown’s Memorial Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Paul J. Harris. Deacon Charles Morrison worked diligently with the renovation of the church on Fulton Avenue. Sister Kessie Morrison served on the Senior Usher Ministry for more than 40 years until her health would not permit her to do so. She was honored as Mother of the Year in 1998 and as a BMBC Legend in 2010. Their son, Edward has been a member of Brown’s since his childhood. He sang on the Young Adult Choir and attended service faithfully until his health failed. After 87 years, Sister Morrison gives thanks to God for her health and strength. Although she is unable to see, all thanks are given to God for keeping her in her right mind, and she is Grateful that things are as good as they are. “I can’t see to read so I think on God’s word and on His blessings.” To my Brown’s Family, “I give you my love. I think about everyone and what you are doing. Continue to live for God, it is the best thing you can do.” “I give glory to God for a beautiful spiritual daughter, Betty Jones, who is always taking good care of me.” – Submitted by Deaconess Yvette Johnson

Brown’s Memorial Heritage – Sister Kessie Morrison Sister Kessie Morrison was born on October 6, 1925 in Lawhill, NC. becoming one of ten children born to Corlee and Clarence Thomas.

She recalls receiving her education from a special teacher who taught everyone in a one room

school.

Although she is unable to see, all thanks

are given to God for keeping her in her right mind, and she is Grateful that things are as good as they are. “I can’t see to read so I think on God’s word and on His blessings.”

To my Brown’s Family, “I give you my love. I think about everyone and what you are doing. Continue to live for God, it is the best thing you can do.”

“I give glory to God for a beautiful spiritual daughter, Betty Jones, who is always taking good care of me.”

The Brown’s Memorial Church Family deserves a hand clap for the success of the Angel Tree Program this year. Also of honorable mention is the generosity of the Gilman School that provided 3 large boxes of new toys for the children who were present on Saturday for the party. The smiles and the thankful expressions from the recipients and the caregivers were blessings to all in attendance. Over 70 children were blessed with the gifts and the pizza party! Thank you one and all!

StewardshipChristian stewardship is the way that a Christian should manage GOD’S business in accordance to the will of GOD. This should be your total lifestyle which includes your external behavior, as well ass what is in your heart.

Christian stewardship begins when you are saved and become a follower of Christ. The concept of stewardship is the doing of God’s will.

(2 Corinthians 5:15)
