Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) trainingIt is mandatory for students who want to work at a licensed premise in any job serving, supplying or selling alcohol to have completed Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) training either before employment or within 30 days of commencing work.

At BROWNS, students can take the course SITHFAB201 – Provide responsible service of alcohol at any of our campuses monthly at a set cost. The course is delivered by an accredited vocational trainer.

Students who have completed RSA training are aware of legal obligations and the ramifications associated with the sale of alcohol which helps employers comply with legislation and helps provide a safe and enjoyable venue for customers.

Each student who successfully completes RSA training at BROWNS receives a Statement of Attainment as evidence they have completed the unit of competency. A statement of attainment does not expire.

BROWNS staff are there to provide the necessary welfare and support for younger learners to successfully live and study in Australia.

The Barista@BROWNS course has been developed to better meet the needs of students who want to increase their chances of employment and improve their intercultural competence and English Language skills.

The focus of the course is on developing effective speaking and listening strategies (work-related interviews and negotiations), reading advanced level texts, and writing business documentation (job applications, letters, business plans and funding proposals) and improving spoken fluency. The course also includes project-based learning through our BROWNS Business Challenge.

The majority of learners would be intending to:

(i) secure employment in Australia or their home country; and/or

(ii) participate in further study at tertiary levels in Australia or their home country.

Why choose BROWNS Junior Program?

This program is suitable for younger learners who wish to be immersed in an English language environment in a, relaxed, interesting and enjoyable atmosphere. There is an emphasis on conversational English, with many opportunities to practice your fluency skills in real life situations. We provide a curriculum contextualised for younger learners and suitably qualified teachers who are experienced in working with this age group. Our extensive range of excursions as part of the program ensures that students gain an understanding of Australian culture and typical life, while having fun exploring the various sights of South-East Queensland. BROWNS staff are also there to provide the necessary welfare and support for younger learners to successfully live and study in Australia.

Accommodation

Homestay options are also available to students, and this includes all meals – breakfast, lunch and dinner – plus assistance to-and-from the school is optional. Our Homestay Officer is available to help young students adjust to life with an Australian family and every student is issued with a 24/7 emergency telephone number to ensure their safety and welfare at all times.

BROWNS English Language School and the Australian Government want international students in Australia to have a safe, enjoyable and rewarding place to study. Australia’s laws promote quality education and consumer protection for international students. These laws are known as the ESOS framework and they include the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000 and National Code 2007.

To enjoy your first class BROWNS experience there are a few things you need to have ready. This handy check list will help prepare you for your time at BROWNS.

Step One: to enrol I

have an up-to-date passport know my visa options know my course know my English level have study break requests know which campus – Brisbane or Gold Coast need an airport pick up and drop off need accommodation assistance need my parents’ consent because I am under 18.

Step two: I am ready to apply and I

want to apply online or in person understand everything on the enrolment application need to tell the school about any health issues (tell us and we can help in class, in

accommodation and in Australia) have sent my application, signed, to BROWNS with a copy of my passport have received my letter of offer, checked all the details, read the terms and conditions and

returned it signed have made a payment via credit card or bank transfer using the details on my letter of offer. have received an eCoE form BROWNS and I have my visa.

Step three: I am ready to come to BROWNS and I

have provided all my flight details to the school as soon as possible, at least two weeks before I am due to arrive in Australia

have looked at the BROWNS website and understand the city I will be living in and the things to look out for, such as the cost of living

have all my details, including my airport pick-up emergency phone number, my accommodation details, the school’s details and what time I need to arrive on my first day.
