BRUCE WEBER
Bruce Weber was born on March 29 in Greensburg, USA. He’s an American fashion photographer and sometimes also a film director, widely known for his advertising campaigns and photo shoots of famous people.
Weber's fashion photography appeared for the first time in the 70’s on GQ magazine, for which he afterwards made various covers.
His agent was able to secure him a contract with the Federated Department Stores to shoot the Bloomingdale’s mail catalog in 1978. He came to the attention of the general public in the 80’s and early 90’s for the advertising campaign of Calvin Klein fashion house and the portrait of the then young actor Richard Gere.

His black and white shots featuring the model Marcus Schenkenberg barely holding jeans in a shower, catapulted him into the international spotlight.
The photo of the Olympic athlete Tom Hintnaus in white briefs for Calvin Klein also is an iconic image.
He photographed the Ralph Lauren winter collection in 2006.
Some of Weber's other earliest fashion shoots appeared in the SoHo Weekly News and featured a group of men only wearing underwear. The photos became the center of a controversy and Weber was told that he would never find a job as a fashion photographer again.

Most of Weber's photographs are black and white or toned shades, but sometimes also in color. They are collected in limited edition books, such as “A House is Not a Home” and “"Bear Pond”.

Weber began collaborating with crooner Chris Isaak in the middle of the 80’s when he took photos of Isaak in 1986 for his second album.
In 1988, Weber photographed a shirtless Isaak in bed for a fashion shoot for the magazine Rolling Stone. Isaak again appeared in “Let's Get Lost” and Weber directed a music video for him.
His photos are part of the permanent collection at the Victoria and Alberyt Museum in London and the Museum of Modern Art in Paris. His also exhibited at the Whitney’s Biennale in New York, the Palazzo Fortuny in Venice, the Musee l’Elysee in Lausanne, the Biennale in Florence, the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Fahey/Klein Gallery in Los Angeles, the Parco Exposure Gallery in Tokyo, the Russell Senate Building in Washington, and the Galleria Carla Sozzani in Milan.
