Brunei’s Trade Brunei obtained money $ from trade
(business). Sultan and important officials (Wazirs)
were traders (pg.33). The traders who came to Brunei were from
China, India, Cambodia, Siam, Pahang, Java, Sumatra, the Moluccas and Mindanao.
Goods from all Brunei empire were brought to be sold to traders (Pg.32 map).
Important Trading Partner China was Brunei important trading partner.
Why? The Chinese buy Blackwood (rosewood) from
Brunei. They use the wood to build Ships. They also buy other goods from Brunei. The Chinese sell the blackwood to other
Chinese traders too when they get back to China.

Other Trades Goods from Brunei were taken to
Melaka Port as well. Melaka port has Indian and Arabian
traders. Many ships that travelled to Melaka
were Bruneian ships.
Goods that Brunei Exports Camphor, rattan, sandalwood, gums,
bird’s nests, feathers and hornbills. After Brunei getting rich, they started to
export: Brassware Clothes

Goods that Brunei Imported When Brunei became wealthier
(richer), Brunei started to import: Luxury items from China and Siam such
as ceramics (pots). Textiles (Clothes) and Brassware
(Metal)
