Heartbeat Test on Active/Standby BAMs
l Heartbeat Test Fundamental
p The heartbeat is messages without responses
p Both the active and the standby BAMs send the heartbeat messages periodically
p The dual-BAM system monitors the heartbeat
l Heartbeat Test Functions
p Ensure that the active and the standby BAMs work properly
p Ensure the network connection is normal
l The three heartbeat channels
p Internal network channel
p External network channel
p Backup channel

Switchover Between the Active and Standby BAMs
l Three modes of the switchover In dual-BAM mode
p Forcible manual mode (SWP BAM)
p Fault-provoked automatic mode
n The active BAM performs the functions while the standby BAM
monitors the active one
n If a fault occurs on the active BAM for more than 5 minutes, the
standby BAM automatically switches to the active one
p Normal automatic mode (SET ASWPARA)
