Ch. 2 Flanking structure

2.1. Flanking structure

The hollow shaft motor requires a structure that works in conjunction to allow the translational motion. Make sure that the system ( screw-moto-structure ) is well aligned with each other and do not generate radial forces as they may damage the motor and the nut or reduce performance or nut-life.

2.2. Information for the applications

The application of the motor with screws to th structure must provide the appropriate accompanying mechanical and electronic safety devices required by the legislation on the matter of safety. It’s necessary to use a limit switch for the drive to provide the zero position. The limit switches can also be used by the drive to limit over-travel. In the case of pic.1, it is possible to also add a mechanical stop as security to avoid screw leakeage.

Multiple motors on a stationary screw.

Single motor on a stationary screw. Inverted application with motor fixed and sliding structure is possible.

Configuration of BSP hollow through-shaft no limit of strokes. Suitable for accurate positioning or for push/press applications.

5.1.4. Brake voltage supply The linear servoactuators can be equiped with a modular parking brake. The brake has zero backlash and stop the rotor when no voltage is applied (24VDC). The parking brake is usually 24 V DC with permanent magnets and determined polarity. In order to release the brake, the winding must be connected to power supply. Without current, the rotor is attracted by the force of the magnetic field generated by the permanent magnets towards the friction surface. This allows locking through friction without backlash to be obtained. When the brkes are new and operate at high speed, the torque may be lower than the value delcared. The brake installed is a parking brake and can therefore guarantee only a limited number of emergency brakings, and must absolutely not be used for continuing dynamic braking. Due to the power dissipated by the brake, we recommend declassifying the motrs’s stall torque by 5%.
