Self-Regulating Heating Cable Product Specifications
Application . . .
Freeze Protection or Process Temperature MaintenanceBSX self-regulating heating cables are designed to providefreeze protection or process temperature maintenance tometallic and nonmetallic piping, tanks and equipment.
The heat output of BSX cable varies in response to thesurrounding conditions along the entire length of a circuit.Whenever the heat loss of the insulated pipe, tank orequipment increases (as ambient temperature drops), theheat output of the cable increases. Conversely, when theheat loss decreases (as the ambient temperature rises orproduct flows), the cable reacts by reducing its heat output. This self-regulating feature allows BSX to be overlappedwithout temperature upset damage to the cable.
BSX cables are approved for use in ordinary (nonclassified)areas and are certified to the ATEX directive for use inCategory 2 and 3 (Zone 1 and 2) classified areas.

Self-Regulating Heating Cable Product Specifications
Application . . .
Process Temperature Maintenance or Freeze ProtectionHigh performance VSX self-regulating heating cables aredesigned specifically for process temperature maintenanceor freeze protection where high maintain temperatures orhigh temperature exposure is required. VSX withstands thetemperature exposures associated with steam purging.
The heat output of VSX cable varies in response to thesurrounding temperature by reducing its thermal outputwith increasing temperature and can be overlapped withouttemperature upset damage to the cable. With its high self-regulating characteristic, VSX can be installed in hazardousareas requiring a T3 temperature class rating.
VSX cables are approved for use in ordinary (nonclassified)areas and Zone 1 and 2 classified areas.

Power-Limiting Heating Cable Product Specifications
Application . . .
Process Temperature Maintenance or Freeze ProtectionHigh performance HPT power-limiting heating cables aredesigned specifically for process temperature maintenanceor freeze protection where high maintain temperatures orhigh temperature exposure is required. HPT withstands thetemperature exposures associated with steam purging.
A coiled resistor alloy heating element (patent pending)provides the power-limiting feature of HPT. This PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient) characteristic decreasesthe cable’s power output as the heat-traced producttemperature increases and allows the cable to be over-lapped during installation. The composite construction ofthe heating element and fibre substrate, plus an additionalfibre cushion layer, provides an exceptionally durable highperformance heating cable.
HPT cables are approved for use in ordinary (nonclassified)areas and Zone 1 and 2 classified areas.

TESH TM
Series Constant Watt Heating Cable Product Specifications
Application . . .
Long Line Temperature Maintenance or Freeze ProtectionTESH series resistance constant Watt heating cables areused where circuit lengths exceed the limitations of parallelresistance heating cables. TESH withstands the temperatureexposures associated with steam purging.
The series circuitry of TESH provides consistent Watt-per-metre power output along the entire length of the cable withno voltage drop. A glassceramic tape layer adds additionalprotection to the heating cable and a fluoropolymeroverjacket provides chemical resistance while maintainingmaximum flexibility. The construction of the cable meets the7 Joule impact test per EN50019.
TESH cables are approved for use in ordinary (nonclassi-fied) areas and Catagories 2 and 3 ATEX classified areas.

Stabilised Design . . .
The Watt density limitation for TESH cables is directlyrelated to the desired maintain temperature. Thermon isable to ensure the T-rating based on a stabilised design thatenables series constant Watt heating cables to operate inhazardous areas without limiting thermostats. TESH cableoutput and T-rating are dependent upon supply voltage, cable resistance, temperature conditions as well as addi-tional variables. Contact Thermon for design assistance.
Basic Accessories3 . . .
Power Connection: TESH cables typically require nonheat-ing terminations at each end of the circuit before connect-ing to power. Contact Thermon for complete information.
Notes . . .
1. T-rating per internationally recognised testing agency guidelines.
2. Thermon heating cables are approved for the listed T-ratings using the stabiliseddesign method. This enables the cable to operate in hazardous areas withoutlimiting thermostats. The T-rating may be determined using CompuTrace® ElectricHeat Tracing Design Software or contact Thermon for design assistance.
