What is the SDUSD BTSA Induction Program?
Two year* induction program designed to:
support credentialed teachers as they transition into the teaching profession
fulfill the requirements for the California Clear Credential
* One year Early Completion Option (ECO) for eligible candidates

Program Cost
Two year program: $2,300 per year One year ECO Program: $3,000 per
year Education Specialist Program:
$2300 annual tuition, plus $150 per course unit (5 course units)
Charter school teachers: adjusted tuition rate based on Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between SDUSD and the charter
Participating Teacher Eligibility
Credential Requirements
Multiple Subjects, Single Subject or Education Specialist preliminary credential.
Level I Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential.
Out of state credential: less than 2 years of contracted teaching experience.
Participating Teacher Eligibility
Employment Requirements
Leave Replacement or Permanent Contract
Teach in a certificated assignment for at least 75% of the school year (by November 1, 2011)
Teach in a district, non-district, charter or private school
Ineligible Teachers
Preschool/Child Development Day-to-day substitutes Unemployed Provisional Internship, Short Term
Staff, or Emergency Permits Vocational Education employed less than 75% of the current
school year (by November 1, 2011). Level I Education Specialist Credential
other than Mild/Moderate
Support Provider Eligibility
Credential/Employment Requirements
Permanent status with the district or “recently” retired. Three years successful district teaching experience OR successful completion of BTSA Induction Valid California teaching credential. Most recent overall evaluation of
"effective."

Support ProviderRoles and Responsibilities
The Support Provider (SP) will:
Serve as a: professional role model in content & pedagogy. Assist Participating Teachers (PT’s) in: 1. integrating formative assessment (FACT) work into their teaching. 2. developing & implementing Individual Induction Plans (IIPs).
And…
Provide: intensive individualized support and assistance Participate in: PD to enhance their own content knowledge,coaching skills, and instructional practice.
Support Provider and Participating Teacher
1. SP will support a minimum of 2 PT’s (Exactly 2 for classroom teachers)
2. SP an PT credentials will match
SP will support PT’s 3 hours (each) per month
SP will support Early Completion Option (ECO) PT’s 5 hours per month
Support Provider “Support”
Provide classroom/FACT guidance– Conduct 3 formal observations
Record all observations in Moodle READ ALL PT portfolio work Record comments after EACH entry in
PT portfolio Participate in Triads (Fall and Spring) Prepare PT for Portfolio Checks Encourage/suggest PD (45 hours)

Complete surveys (state and program)
Communicate with Resource Teacher
Watch email closely! Log hours in moodle and keep
them up to date!
Support ProviderCompensation
SP’s will record hours in Moodle PT’s will verify hours in Moodle Support Hours = $44.07 per hour Support Hours paid December,
March and May Coaching Clinics/Trainings=
$19.83 per hour Coaching Clinics/Trainings paid

Purpose: Keep PT on track with deadlines Check for quality of work Build rapport with Resource
Teacher Problem solve as needed
– Three times per year– SP’s do not attend
District Salary Advancement Credit
One Year = 9 District Credits Two Years = 18 District Credits Education Specialist = 23 District Credits (5 units of coursework) One Year (ECO) Program=12 District Credits
