Summer Study Internship Program

Exclusively for visiting undergraduate students, this unique 12-week program is an opportunity to earn 10 academic credits—and gain hands-on work experience toward your future career.

For the first six weeks, you’ll take two Boston University summer courses in one of eight academic tracks. For the second six weeks, you’ll work as a full-time intern in a Boston-area company or organization. Internship placement is a key element of our program, and we work hard to find an internship experience that best matches your goals and abilities.

Throughout the program, you’ll also participate in a 2-credit internship course. The Internship Course prepares you for your internship and helps combine the academic and experiential elements of the program.

ORIENTATION & ACTIVITIESStudents benefit from a lively social calendar. Outings and gatherings include everything from movie nights to Red Sox games to day trips to Martha’s Vineyard. The program begins with an orientation so students can meet fellow participants, program administrators, faculty, and internship placement staff.

HOUSINGOn-campus housing and dining are available for an additional fee.

ADMISSIONSThe Summer Study Internship Program is open to visiting undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and who have completed at least one year of college by the start of the program.
