Coral Coast Men’s Shed
In mid 2016 CCMS was asked to
build 6 buddy benches by
Stephen Bennett MP. These
were to be distributed to schools
in the local area.

The first task was to select a suitable
design. After looking through the
extensive collection of woodworking
magazines in the CCMS library, we
found a very suitable design which
included a cut list, so we could order
the required timber.

The design and instructions were
in edition 41 of the Australian
Wood Review.

When the timber was delivered, all
the required pieces were cut to
length. Then, the shaped pieces –
the slat supports and the armrests
were shaped using shop-made jigs
made by a small group of CCMS
shedders.

principal of working shoulder to
shouder.

Arrengements re finances via
the State Government and supply
of materials was readily made
and production commenced

The end product was six very
sturdy benches about 1.8m long

Mr. Bennett MP for Burnett, soon
arranged for the manufacture and
supply of “made by” plaques and
the benches were delivered
before the Xmas holiday break.

design from schools and Mens
Sheds near and far.
