Match is a training and
employment program for vulnerable young people at
Nørrebro in Copenhagen
ASKOVGAARDEN April 2011. Af Line K Sidenius
Why is it important to contribute to the integration of vulnerable young people in Denmark with other ethnic backgrounds than Danish?
Because if we don't:
Divided connections between youth and the established community
Increased minority groups Increased exclusion Leading to riots and youth who have difficulties in
asserting themselves into labor ASKOVGAARDEN may 2012.

Previous generations: + Unskilled work = Socialization agent Now: ÷ Unskilled work + Education = Socialization agent

It is society´s job to manage the group of
young people who do not get an education.
●The young people and their networks deserve a chance.
and We as a society is forced to produce
skilled manpower to maintain the level of prosperity and Welfare as we have.

We are therefore forced to find new ways to get vulnerable young people integrated into society.
It requires bridging between: ◌ Social workers ◌ Businesses ◌ Schools and the public system
who makes an effort ASKOVGAARDEN may 2012.

Match is an new and original approach The youths are not seen - or treated as a problem.
◌ Match works instead on three levels with the young people:
1. Business Standards and Conditions 2. Training Standards and Conditions 3. Strengthening young people’s personal skills

A.) Skills to identify their own goals and desires B.) Skills to identify social reality C.) Skills to identify appropriate actions based on their own desires and their position in different parts of society.

Match contributes to increasing the access disadvantaged young people have to employment and education by creating increased flexibility among employers and educational institutions.
At the same time Match also gives the young people the
necessary support and the critical skills necessary to act on the above flexibility.
The project is thus an important contribution to increasing social
cohesion and a stronger integration.

The cooperation model where each of the cooperating parties contribute in these ways, supports young people´s education, in a way where Match breaks with negative social inheritance, ensures mobility and increases the chance of socially vulnerable groups integrating into society.
At the same time the project is also a new
method to handle young people with no possibilities for education in relation to vocational education.

24 started in the project.
After 3 years, 21 are still involved
New businesses and young people are ready to join in.
State and local governments view Match as a good way to further integration among the group of vulnerable young people in Denmark.

BUT……..Match is just a project.
Projects end! so… What about the large group of young people
who could benefit from attending a similar educational and employment program?
And… Where does all the good knowledge go?

NEO, sept. 2012 – dec. 2014 This EU project aims to develop a common
approach to vulnerable young people in education and employment.
This method will focus on cooperation between NGOs, private and public companies.
The method must be developed so that it can be practiced within the existing legislation in DK and SE, and must be shaped in a way that makes it possible too handle by professionals in the municipalities.
