SIGNAGE GUIDELINES
EXTERNAL SIGNAGE GUIDELINES
1. GENERAL GUIDELINES
a. Colours: Ideally HCL Blue should be the colour of the signage. But in exceptional
circumstances (such as very dark coloured backgrounds) Steel lettering can be
used.
b. Ratio of Logo must always be 1:7 (height: width)
c. All main signages must carry only the HCL logo.
d. The company name should not be mentioned along with the HCL logo.
e. The mandatory requirement of the subsidiary name, registered address and
location address is to be left at the discretion of the building administration
department. However, the HCL logo must be the most significant element and
must maintain the exclusion zone.
2. TYPES OF SIGNAGE
a. Cut out letters (Back lit for an outer glow at night.) – As in 1a.
b. Mounted on Backlit Vinyl Box – HCL Blue logo on white background
c. Protruding Blue Letters on flat white background
d. Pillars with a front-lit cubicle box with the logo on all four sides
e. A cubicle box with the logo on all four sides at the entrance gate above the guard
room.
f. Pedestals with logo – independent raised structures outside the building, at the
central place at the ground floor.
Please note that all efforts must be made to have Cut-Out letters as the main
signage. And only under extreme constraints, we should use a box with HCL logo
on it.
3. ON LESS THAN FOUR STOREY BUILDINGS
a. Cut out letters (HCL) in HCL blue colours at the most prominent position at the
top of the building, in backlit, such that the HCL has an outer glow at night
making it clearly visible. The size of the logo should either be 1 foot X 7 feet or
1.5 feet X 10.5 feet. E.g. see Picture 1 of Sector-3 NOIDA Building.
b. The entrance must have HCL logo as (1a). Size should be minimum 0.5 foot X
3.5 feet and maximum 1 foot X 7 feet. E.g. see Picture 1 of Sector-3 NOIDA
Building.
c. Any opportunity to place a pillar (as in 1d) near the corners of the premises must
be explored. The height of the pillar should be 25 feet with the cubicle of size 4
feet X 4 feet.
d. An opportunity to place a pedestal (as in 1f) with branding outside the premises,
at the central point near the entry gate, must be explored. See example of
Picture 2, Sector 3, Noida building.
e. An opportunity to place a cubicle-box (as in 1e) above the guard-room near the
entry gate must be explored. Size of the cubicle should be 2 feet X 8 feet. E.g.
see Picture 4 of Sector-11 NOIDA or Bangalore Building.
f. If there is a constraint because of which HCL lettering can not be put on the top
wall, then a special structure with the 3 letters must be put on the top floor using
3 pillars. The height of the pillars should be minimum 6 feet. The letters must be
minimum 1 foot in height and the place of the 3 letters must be in exactly 7 feet.

4. FOUR & ABOVE STOREY BUILDINGS
a. Cut out letters (HCL) in HCL blue colours at the most prominent position at the
top of the building, in backlit, such that the HCL has an outer glow at night
making it clearly visible. The size of the logo should be a minimum of 1 foot X 7
feet and maximum of 3 feet X 21 feet. E.g. see Picture 5 of Sapna Trade Center,
Chennai.
b. The main signage of the building must be either 1b or 1c. E.g. see Picture 5 of
Sapna Trade Center, Chennai or Picture 6, Bangalore building. The size to be 2
feet X 8 feet.
c. An opportunity to place a pedestal (as in 1f) with branding outside the premises,
at the central point near the entry gate, must be explored. E.g. see Picture 8 of
Begumpet, Secunderabad building.
d. Any opportunity to place a pillar (as in 1d) near the corners of the premises must
be explored. The height of the pillar should be 25 feet with the cubicle of size 4
feet X 4 feet.

a. Colours: HCL Blue only

c. All places must carry only the HCL logo.
d. The company name should not be mentioned along with the HCL logo.
2. DOOR SIGNAGES
a. Put Stickers of Cut out letters In HCL Blue colour on the glass doors at the main
entrance of the building and each floor.
- The material of these stickers to be Vinyl.
- The three letters must fit in minimum size 3” x 21” so that the ratio of HCL logo is
maintained and the logo on the door gets due prominence without being too
small or too large.
- The sticker to be put at a height of 6 feet from ground on the door from the
outside.
b. In case, there are no glass doors, then the main doors must have vinyl stickers
on white background.
- The size of these stickers to be minimum 5” x 23” so that the HCL logo of size 3”
x 21” fits in with 1” white space all around it.
- The sticker to be put at a height of 6 feet from ground on the door from the
outside.
3. Reception
a. HCL logo on a steel sheet behind the receptionist’s seat. (see reference picture)
b. HCL Logo in HCL blue colour to be made of vinyl cut out letters. The three letters
must fit in 4” x 28” so that the ratio of HCL logo is maintained and the logo gets
due prominence without being too small or too large.
- These cut-out letters to be pasted on a steel sheet of minimum 1.5 cms
thickness. The size of the sheet to be 2 feet by 4 feet (height X width).
- The HCL logo must be placed 10” away from all four edges of the poly-carbonate
sheet.
DON’Ts
- The company name must not appear on this signage.
- There must not be any hindrance to the view of the HCL logo for example,
nothing should be placed on the reception table and nothing from the back wall
should obstruct the visibility.
