1837Gypsum is first discovered in the area, earning it the name “Alabaster.”
2017USG is named a Top Workplace by the Detroit Free Press for the fourth year in a row.
1917USG releases Sheetrock® wallboard, the first modern drywall, known around the world today.
1928The plant is expanded with a larger quarry and offshore storage.
2012The Sunrise Side Bike Path crosses 72 acres of USG property, granted as an easement to the community.
1902The Alabaster Company becomes a founding member of United States Gypsum Company, now part of USG Corporation.
Our products helped build One Word Trade Center in New York City, the tallest building in the U.S. and a tribute to our resiliency.
USG products are helping create stronger athletes at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
