The base of the fountain is inscribed with Jesus’ words
from John :: “Whoever drinks of the water that I will
give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give
him will become in him a well of water springing up to
eternal life.” The fountain jets are choreographed to custom-
scored hymns. The pool at the fountain’s base includes a
heated baptistery, and fountain baptisms will be shared on
Worship Center screens as we celebrate lives transformed
with God’s Word.

The First Dallas family is honored to have some of this generation’s great teachers and worship
leaders help us dedicate the campus from which we will minister for generations to come.

that reaches countless people all over the world through
television and radio. 9:15 & 11 am, April 7
Pastor Jim Cymbala is a well-known
author and the leader of The Brooklyn
Tabernacle. A native New Yorker,
Jim and his wife, Carol, recognized
the vast mission field in the inner-city of New York and
answered the call to minister there. Many in the church
now reach neighbors with the gospel’s healing power.

that produces his radio program,“Dr. James Dobson’s
Family Talk.” 9:15 & 11 am, April 21
When Joan and Andy married, neither her parents nor his approved.
He was Christian; she wasn’t. But then they settled in Dallas and
visited First Dallas. In Sunday School, as the men sat on one side
and the ladies on the other, Andy prayed for forgiveness and Joan’s
salvation. Joan prayed for forgiveness and received Christ. And
together they began a new life of love and service. In , they
founded Premier Designs, which supports hundreds of ministries
worldwide. Joan Horner entered triumphantly into God’s presence
on December , . She is deeply missed by Andy, their five
children, grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
In , young James Donald joined First Dallas with his parents,
E.L. and Bonnie, and his three siblings, Jack, Allen, and Jane.
The Donald family has been a pillar of First Dallas ever since.
James graduated from , married Geneva, and the couple soon
added daughter Jennifer to their family. That is when they met
Libby Reynolds, who invited the Donalds to join her work with
the primary children. Their hearts touched by the youngsters
they met, they began a life of service that, in turn, has touched
the hearts of thousands of children and that now will continue
for years to come.

Hollis and Donna recognize the vast potential of digital technology
for reaching the world with the gospel and have been supporters
of “Pathway to Victory” since its inception. They are longtime
members of First Baptist Wichita Falls, where Hollis served as a
deacon and Pastor’s Prayer Partner with Dr. Jeffress. He relocated
to Fort Worth before the Jeffress family came to First Dallas.
The Sullivans say that the opportunity to invest in the media
center came at a God-ordained time. In their words, “the Lord
uses insignificant people to do big things.” And God has big plans
indeed for the facility their gift has made possible.
June Hunt, founder of Hope for the Heart, has
long been a guiding force at First Dallas, following
the legacy of her mother, Ruth Ray Hunt, who
provided our previous student center. June is a
best-selling author whose books, available in
languages, apply the principles of God’s Word to
bring hope and healing to millions. Her radio
broadcasts, Hope for the Heart, and the live call-in
counseling program, Hope in the Night, minister
God’s transforming truth to millions more.
Members of the Wicker family have been at First
Baptist Dallas for a century. Carolyn and David
met here and have served in almost every area.
They were Sunday School and Training Union
directors, and participants in numerous mission
trips. David served as Fellowship of Deacons chair
and president of the Brotherhood. Carolyn was
president of Women’s Missionary Union and
served on our Planning and Development Com-
mittee. Their four children continue their legacy.
When Dee and Glenn Simmons joined First Dallas
in , they found a church where they could
joyfully practice one of their life principles: “For the
Lord, plant a seed every day, but make sure the
seed is in fertile soil.” Glenn was a proud member
of the Planning and Development Committee
for five years. He entered triumphantly into God’s
presence on March , . He is missed by “his
girls,” wife Dee and daughter D’Andra, and his
nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Ralph Baker was an outstanding attorney, beloved
husband and father, and a theater aficionado. A
fine musician, he often was called on to conduct at
worship services. He and his wife, Marge, led a large
Sunday School department, and Ralph served on
the pulpit committee, one of the youngest ever to
do so. His church parties are legendary–spectacular
events with costumed performers and a jazz band.
As we honor him, applauding are his family, Doug
and Carol Adkins and Elizabeth Baker.
God made a mark on First Dallas through the
Lovvorns. Mark’s grandparents joined years
ago. His father, Martin, chaired the Fellowship of
Deacons; so did Mark – the only father and son in
our history to do so. Martin led the acquisition
of the Spurgeon Harris Building and construction
of the Christian Education Building. Mark oversaw
the re-making of the campus. His wife, Patty, has
touched countless lives as a gifted Bible teacher.
And their children follow their example of service.
On a Sunday morning in October , Carl Bolin
raised his baton to conduct the first performance of
the new First Dallas orchestra. A graduate of ’s
College of Music, he taught music in the Garland
schools, where his gift for inspiring fellow musi-
cians was evident to everyone. First Dallas Minister
of Music Leroy Till invited him to help create a
church orchestra. Carl would serve as its leader for
the next years. It is fitting that his faithfulness to
the church be honored in our new orchestra facility.
