Sheoak 5s Modern Twist on Old Fairy Tales

The students in S5 worked tirelessly to remember all of their lines and to create an impressive

backdrop for their humorous performance of Snow White.

Many students demonstrated impressive

dramatic and creative skills which made the audience laugh.

Since returning to school we have all been working furiously and have created poems about friendship. We’ve been improving our

group work and team work skills in our PATHS lessons.

We’ve mastered PicCollage on our iPads to create an impressive range of posters. Our next technology challenge is to learn how to

turn our assembly item into an iMovie.

It has been a very busy five weeks in Sheoak 5. It was a challenge to learn all my lines as the narrator. I practised twice each night. Ella.

I learnt it was important to practise each night to feel confident on the actual day. Elizabeth

I enjoyed playing “Weepy” it was lots of fun. I think the seven dwa-rves did a great job! Ruby. H

From the Principal’s Desk

Sheoak 5’s Assembly Congratulations to Sheoak 5 and Mrs Twist for the fabulous performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It

was hilarious and the actors had the entire audience in stitches. The scenery and the costumes where terrific and

only surpassed by the amazing performances of the children, who not only remembered all of their lines, but

delivered them with confidence and enthusiasm. A great start to our Class Assemblies. Well done!

Staff Professional Development Day on 8 March

Teachers attended a very successful morning of Professional Learning in Humanities and Social Sciences

(HASS) at Shelley Primary School on Tuesday 8 March. This is in preparation for the expected full

implementation of both HASS and Health and Physical Education with first reporting to parents by the end of

Semester 1 2017.

Books for the Waroona Fire Victims

At a school where values are explicitly taught and where empathy is encouraged, helping others less fortunate is

a way to introduce these values in real life.

One of the roles of the school prefects is to raise awareness of, and to provide help to those

people in need.

The prefects are currently fund raising to give reading books to the victims of the Waroona Fires,

particularly the children of Yarloop Primary School who are attending school at Harvey Primary

as theirs was burnt down in the fires.

If you would like to contribute to such a worthy cause please purchase a book and place it in the cardboard box

in your child’s classroom. Attach your family name on a sticky note or the form the prefects have provided so we

can insert a book label stating the name of the donor family and our school.

Once again thank you for your support.

Swimming Carnivals

The Faction Swimming Carnival will be held on Thursday 17 March at Melville Aquatic Centre beginning at 9.00

and finishing at 12.00. Thank you to Mr Pascoe for his organisation of this event.

Before School If any students arrive at school before the classrooms are open at 8.30 please ensure they sit in the stage under covered area. Parents if you are staying with your child please accompany them to the under covered area. Easter Break Please note the school will be closed on Tuesday 29th March for the Easter long weekend.

SCHOOL BANKING With the Swimming Faction Carnival next

Thursday, school banking will be on Wednesday 16th March from

8:20am - 8:50am to ensure that no one misses out!

GERMAN

I am very excited to let you know that "GERMAN " will be represented at the Rotary Community Fair

in Willetton this year. There will be a stall with information on Germany and learning German, offering a few activities and a cake stall in order to raise money to support ongoing activities like student exchanges, exams, festivals and inter school activities. If you are able to support this event you can do this by donating homemade muffins, biscuits or cakes or by letting you child take part. I will be there between 9 and 12.30 pm. It would be great to see some Bull Creek students at the fair and I am happy to look after them during their roster.

There will be a roster / support sheet at the office. Feel free to put your name down.

HARMONY DAY

Harmony Day celebrates Australia’s culture diversity. It is about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. On Friday 18th March our school will be celebrating “Harmony Day” with a special whole school assembly. We would love to see ALL students supporting this event by wearing something ORANGE to school next Friday.

P & C NEWS FLASH

UNIFORM SHOP With start of the cooler mornings, the uniform shop has

received a new shipment of fleecy jackets ($35, from size 4) and tracksuit

jackets ($45, from size 6). We also have tracksuit pants to match the jackets

($32, from size 6). Get in quick before they sell out! The uniform shop is

open on Tuesday mornings from 8.30am next to the canteen in the new undercover area.

Please note that the Uniform Shop is cash (or cheque) only.

CLASSROOM CASH The West Australian, Channel and Caltex are giving

West Australian Schools the chance to WIN a share of $20,000 to help buy

the things that are needed to make learning FUN! On the weekends of

March 5-6, 12-13 and 19-20 an entry coupon will appear in the Weekend

West. To be in the running to win, we must collect as many entry coupons

as possible through our friends and family. Don’t forget to collect your

coupon this weekend!

P&C COMMITTEE The P&C are seeking a new Uniform Shop co-ordinator. Full training

will be provided as well as ongoing support. We are also still seeking a Secretary for the

committee. Come along and join us at the P&C meeting on Monday 14th March.

EARN AND LEARN Thank you to all our families who collected

the Woolies Earn and Learn stickers last year. We have received

our prizes and they included 2 new earth worm kits for Worm

Whizz, music equipment, and new sports equipment. Thanks

again to everyone who collected the stickers.

EASTER RAFFLE The raffle tickets for the Easter raffle have been sent home

today.

Thanks to all our wonderful families who have donated Easter items. The

raffle tickets are due back at school on Tuesday 22nd March and the raffle will

be drawn on Thursday 24th March, just in time for Easter! Good luck to

everyone!

Our next meeting will be Monday 14th March 2016 at 7pm in the school library. We would

love to see some new faces on the committee.
