For over 80 years, St. Teresa High School has been providing quality education to students in the Decatur area. This is evidenced by high academic, spiritual, and social standards:

- ACT Composite average for the Class of 2012 is 23.1...the highest in Macon County- 100% graduation rate (third year in a row)- 100% of seniors go on to college or other post-secondary schools/military (third year in a row)- 4, 200 service hours completed during the 2011 - 2012 school year. - Herald and Review Athletic Program of the Year (third year in a row)

As we embark on our Annual Fund drive to raise $150,000 we ask for your continued support of St. Teresa High School. You can be assured that every dollar you give goes directly to the increased educational opportunities our students receive.

Dollars raised through the Annual Fund provide support for the operating budget THIS year. Tuition and fees don’t cover the full cost of educating a student at St. Teresa. The cost per pupil is $10,394 and tuition only covers $5,450. The Annual Fund helps make up the difference after tuition revenues, endowment income, and other grants are exhausted. Donations collected each year support the current school year’s operations.

Every gift - no matter what size - makes a difference! Your generosity has an immediate effect.

Last year, St.Teresa High School embarked on the most extensive capital campaign in its history, a $7.5 million project titled “Believe - Build - Become” .$3.6 million has already been raised expended in making significant improvements to the school during the summers of 2011 and 2012 in completing parts one and two of the four part plan. A LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear Friends & Families,

Below is an often asked question related to the various fund-raising activities that take place at St.Teresa each year. Question: Could you explain the differences in the four major fund-raising programs at St. Teresa High School - Annual Drive, Capital Campaign, Mega Raffle and St.Teresa Educational Foundation? Answer: The following explanations will hopefully delineate some of the differences.

ANNUAL FUND DRIVE - Kicks off each Fall (this year was October 15, 2012) and extends through June 30th each year. - This drive is essential to help maintain a balanced annual operational budget at St.Teresa High School. - The Annual Fund Drive helps bridge the gap between the cost of tuition ($5,450) and the cost to educate a student at St.Teresa (approx. $10, 500).

CAPITAL CAMPAIGN (launched in 2011) Phase I - was completed during summer of 2011 and included: - Replacement of the Main Building roof. - Installation of new lights on the football field, softball field and in the gymnasium. - Upgrade of electrical access for extension throughout the campus. - Tuck - pointing throughout. Phase II - was completed during summer of 2012 and included: - Installation of HVAC throughout entire facility. - Renovation and installed new outdoor restrooms. - Repairs to storm sewer in north student parking lot. - Remodeling of the gymnasium entrance, concessions and restrooms. Phase III - we need $$ now to proceed next summer. - $2.4 million dollars is needed to construct a physical education annex north of the gym (locker rooms and weight room). Need to raise $1.6 million. When combined with $1 for $2 matching pledge, $2.4 million would be available. Phase IV - $$ needed in the future. - Outside facilities including football field (artificial turf ) and some track facilities contingent on $$ and land usage.

MEGA RAFFLE - This is St. Teresa’s largest fund-raiser. The Mega Raffle is essential to support St. Teresa’s Annual operating expenses. Obviously, the more tickets sold, the better it helps to operate a balanced budget. Tuition only accounts for approximately 50% of the monies it costs to operate St. Teresa H.S. each year.

ST.TERESA EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION - This foundation is a separate entity from St. Teresa High School. The Foundation is overseen by a separate Board of Trustees. Gifts to the Foundation assist future students at St. Teresa. Many donors when planning their wills consider establishing bequests and/or scholarships to St. Teresa High School. The Foundation donates 5% of its corpus annually to the St. Teresa operating fund.

Boys’ Golf - The Boys’ golf team comprised of Jordan Laukaitis, Donovan Resch, Trey Nisser, Archie Britt, Cole Burdick and Connor Peveler had a great 2012 season. The boys’ golf team advanced out of Regionals for the third straight season and saw two of it’s members, Archie Britt and Jordan Laukaitis, advance to the State Tournament in Bloomington (Prairie Vista GC).

Golf The St. Teresa golf teams were both very successful this season. For the past few seasons, the Bulldog golf program only had one team. The team was co-ed during the regular season due to having less than 4 girls, the minimum number of players for a full team. This fall, the golf program fielded a boys’ and a girls’ team. Each team’s season was full of many accomplishments.

Boys’ Soccer The St. Teresa boys’ soccer team had a successful season. The team worked hard throughout the year and continually benefited from that hard work. The team finished with a record of 8-10-2. There was no conference for soccer this year. The varsity and JV team had twenty-one players. The Varsity team was comprised of Braden Nicholls, Daley Miller, Ryan Finley, Christian Gomez, Elorm Nutakor (Kevin), David Hlawek, Matthew Peters, Trenton Wagner, Robben Burdick, Jordan Bolletta, and Xavier Toussaint. The top five goal scorers were Bolletta, Toussaint, Hlawek, Peters, and Nicholls. This was Leo Berger’s final season with the program, and he will be greatly missed.

Girls’ Golf - This was the first year in quite some time that St. Teresa fielded a girls’ golf team. This year’s team went undefeated during the regular season and won the school its first ever Girls Golf Regional Championship. Team members were Ann Duncan, Jess Schuerman, Hayley Rogers, and Maranda Archer. Congratulations to Hayley Rogers for advancing to this year’s State Golf Tournament in Decatur (Red Tail Run GC).

Fall Sports 2012 Re-capGirls’ Tennis St. Teresa girls’ tennis team had a great season. Seniors Amy and Tracy Kuhle’s year-end record was 37-1 in doubles and 151-6 throughout their high school career. The Kuhle sisters finished second in the state tournament. This is the fourth year in a row the Kuhle’s represented St. Teresa in the top four in state. In tennis, there are no class divisions, so this accomplishment is truly remarkable. The girls’ tennis team consisted of Amy Kuhle, Tracy Kuhle, Sara Stokes, Alexa Tucker, Gina Tacud, Claire Glosser, Alyssa Kim and LaTayJah Singleton-Roby. The team placed second in the Okaw Conference.

Cross Country Girls’ Cross Country Team Honors-STATE CHAMPS for the 3rd straight year. First team in St. Teresa history to win 3 straight state titles. First girls team in the history of Macon County to win 3 straight state titles. Set the IHSA record for lowest point total ever in the girls state meet with 41 pts. Finished the season ranked as the #5 team in the country by the National High School Coaches Association Div. II (schools under 500 students). Regional and Sectional Champs, SIUE meet Champions, Crystal Lake South Invite Champions, First to the Finish Invite Champions, MacArthur Invite Champions, Spartan Classic Champions, EPGXC Invite Champions and Okaw Valley Conference Champions for the 5th consecutive year.

Boys’ Cross Country: The boys’ team qualified for Sectionals for the 5th consecutive year.

Lend a Hand Day

St.Teresa students are required to complete 10 hours of service each year, and 8 of the 10 hours must be in direct service to people in need. On Oct. 20th, students participated in Lend A Hand Day, and worked together to complete service at organizations that benefit people in the greatest need. Some of the organizations that benefit from St.Teresa students and their work included area nursing homes, food shelters and various yard and garden clean-up projects.

WSOY Food Drive

St. Teresa placed 3rd in the 11th Annual WSOY Food Drive help in October. St.Teresa collected 60,373 pounds/dollars of food for local food pantries.

1st Annual Matt Yelovich / Tony Samuelson Volleyball Classic

St. Teresa and Mt. Zion High Schools teamed up to support the 1st Annual Matt Yelovich/Tony Samuelson Volleyball Classic, held Sept. 11th. The event raised over $8,000 to be split between the schools for their SADD programs.

Matt Yelovich, a former Mt. Zion student, and Tony Samuelson, a former St. Teresa student, were killed by a drunk driver in 2008. “SADD recognizes the pressures on young people to drink, use drugs or engage in unhealthy behaviors. SADD aims to educate, support and empower students to make positive decisions in their lives, “said Ken Hendriksen, St. Teresa Principal and CEO. “Matt went to Mt. Zion and Tony went to St. Teresa, so it seems like a fitting tribute for them.”

SADD Red Ribbon Week

St. Teresa Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) members hosted a week of activities in October to present a visible commitment to a safe, healthy and drug-free lifestyle and to create awareness concerning the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.

SADD members tied red ribbons on cars and on trees on the St. Teresa campus, hosted trivia games and free Culver’s ice cream. SADD students also went to Our Lady of Lourdes and Holy Family grade schools and other areas in the community to plant bulbs that will flower in the Spring to remind everyone of their promise to be Drug Free.

An Illinois State Trooper set up a Distracted Driving Obstacle Course in the St. Teresa parking lot for students to drive a golf cart while texting to see how quickly their attention is off the course.

The week ended with a Rachel’s Challenge Legacy Assembly.
