    The Beginning of Advent

November is the month of Thanksgiving, but it often also includes thebeginning of a new church year. This year, November 29 is the first

Sunday of Advent. The season of Advent is about Jesus, the Word, coming. Its about anticipating and preparing for Christs arrival.

God comes to us in many and various ways. He speaks to us throughthe prophets and saints. He comes and speaks to us when we are

listening. He comes in the beauty and mysteries of nature. Most of all, God comes in the person ofChrist, speaking to his listeners face to face.

Pastor Edmund Steimle put it this way: The Christian story is a story of God coming into themiddle of life, of our lives, opening the dialogue with us.

Thats what Advent is really all about: God visiting the earth in person to speak with anyone andeveryone who is ready to do so.

Called Business Meeting for the calling of a

    Minister of Students.

This Sunday. November 28 following the morning worship timethere will be a called business meeting for the purpose of votingto call Mr. Vance Matthews as our Minister of Students. The

personnel committee along with the youth ministry council have given full support to haveVance as part of the full time staff of WLBC. Vance and his wife Stacy are graduates ofCampbell University and Vance is a May 2010 graduate of Southeastern Baptist TheologicalSeminary.

They come to us from Lillington, North Carolina where Stacy is a Middle School teacher. Asa couple they bring many gifts to that will help grow our youth ministry and help WLBCreach people for the family of God. I realize that the entire church family may have limitedinformation about Vance and Stacy so I would encourage you to talk to the personnelcommittee or the youth ministry council if you have question. This is also a time for us totrust our committees who have prayed for Gods leading in this matter and who sense theleading of God to Vance Matthews as our Minister of Students. Robert Putt

There are six Sundays remaining in the 2010 year. That means that wehave six Sundays of collections toward our budget. We are presently at90% of budget income. Can we work hard to get this to 95% by the endof the year? Lets finish the year strong with regards to our giving.

    Jericho Baptist Missionary Chapel

Annual Christmas Toy Drive 2010Children are beginning to have visions of what will be under

the Christmas tree, but unfortunately for some, this dream may notbe a reality.

This year marks the 33 years that Jericho Outreach has been serving under-served families by providing toys and clothing to children (Ages 1-16) during ourAnnual Toy Drive.

We have set an aggressive goal to serving 1,000 children in the Central Virginiaarea with concentration on the inner city. With the economy in a slump, it is nosurprise that we have already begun receiving calls from families requestingassistance. We can only accomplish our goal with your help.

Excerpt from Dr. Charles Dunnings Letter to Churches and Businesses.Deadline for gifts is December 19th.The Jericho Toy Barrel is located in the preschool wing.

    Baptist Global ResponseIn-Home Care Kits

The BGR In-Home Care Kit is a compilation of medical and hygiene

supplies. Items in this kit will make the care-givers tasks much

easier, but more importantly, will ease the suffering of the ones affected by HIV/AIDS. The

WMU, along with your help, plan to put together a bucket(s) for BGR.

The bulletin board will have puzzle pieces with items listed that are needed for

a bucket of HELP. Pick a puzzle piece and purchase the item(s).

Please this is very important....NO SUBSTITUTIONS ARE ALLOWED.

Purchase exactly what is on the piece. The bucket items have been specifically pickedout for the care and use of the HIV/AIDS person and to fit into the bucket.

By putting together a kit, we will help provide a physical and spiritual touch to those in sub-Saharan

Africa who are dying from AIDS and other illnesses. Our local partners in Africa will distribute the

buckets in a way that gives dignity and hope to each family receiving a kit.

WLBCs Goal of 6 Buckets/KitsListen to my cry for help, for I am brought very low. Rescue me from my pursuers, for they are

too strong for me. Psalm 147:7

LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERINGWLBCs Goal $20,000

2010 Week of Prayer, November 28 - December 5, 2010May the peoples praise You, O God; may all the peoples praise you(Psalm 67:3, NIV).Its a beautiful vision: People who speak Kirmanjki and Kabyle, Thai and

Tatar, and use sign language in Czechall knowing and praising God. Itsa vision that comes closer to being realized every year as Christians seekunreached people groups to tell them the story of Jesus.Southern Baptists have followed Gods lead to focus attention on bringing

all the worlds peoples to Him. And God has responded to the faithfulness of His people. There is much to celebrate! Are we there yet? Not yet.But for the first time in history, we can identify the people groups that remain untouched bythe Gospel. We can get there in our generation! But that last part of the journey may be thehardest. It will take all of usour churches, our missionaries, our national partners, our GreatCommission partners.

Southern Baptists must continue to increase their giving to support missionaries through theLottie Moon Christmas Offering. They must pray strategically. And they must own the GreatCommission as never before to see that all peoples know Him.

    The Sanctuary Choir present....

The First Noel...Born is the KingDecember 12, Sunday at 6:30pm

Music by Jay Rouse and Randy Vader

Historically there was only one First Noel - all the Noels to follow were celebrations of thatextraordinary Holy Night.

However, there are many who may never experience a true Noel - a true Christmas - acelebration of the coming of the Savior.

Christmas begins when the Christ of Christmas is born in the hearts of those who seekHim. He comes to us - He moves among us - not because of our merit, but because of Hismercy.

This could be your time to experience the miracle of Christmas - this could be your time tocome to the hallowed manger ground -

This could be your time to behold His glory - come and worship, you will not be turnedaway, this could be your First Noel.

Spread the word to have family and friends join you....share the Miracle of Christmas!

    T.C. Miller Elementary School

    Christmas Shop

WMU is partnering with T. C. Miller to help with their

    Christmas Shop.

Unfortunately the room where T. C. Miller stored the items

for sale, had a water leak and everything had to be thrown

out. They are in great need of anything that will help with their Christmas Shop.

The Christmas Shop provides elementary school children the opportunity to purchaseChristmas gifts for each member of their family for minimum cost. For pennies this

shop makes the children feel good at Christmas time by being able to purchase small

    gifts with their own money.

What we are looking for is the perfect guilt free reason to RE-GIFT!

These gifts need to be in original containers and preferably new items.

Looking for trinket boxes, candy dishes, candles, knick-knacks, body washes, lotions,

stationary sets, jewelry, childrens toys, stuffed animals, something for dad; thingsthat you may not have a use for.

Their SALE begins on December 18, please have your donations to WLBC by December

    15, Wednesday.

A collection box is located in the church foyer. A WMU Project
