THE NEW RITE OF MARRIAGE As of Dec 30, 2016 a new rite for the Sacrament of Marriage is in use in the United States. There will be two workshops offered in the diocese to explain what the changes mean for the liturgy in which the Sacrament is celebrated. IF THE WEATHER IS BAD, please stay home. We want you to be safe! Father Greg has the authority to cancel weekday Masses due to the weather, but it is up to Bishop Cote to cancel weekend Masses. Mass will be said even if no one is there, as long as Father can make it to church!

Philip Cemetery Sexton Volunteer position involves maintaining and coordinating records with the Town of Ashford, rules and regulations for burials, headstone and military markers, flowers and shrubs; communication with families, Funeral Homes, Monument companies and Hipsky Construction Company. There have been between 4 and 18 burials per year.

ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED: St. Philip needs Altar Servers for both Masses. Please consider being trained as an Altar Server.

HOSPITAL AND NURSING HOME VISITS If your loved one is ill at Home, hospitalized, or in a nursing home and would like Father Greg to visit them, please call the office or Father. Please provide their name, address, phone # and room #.

NEW ADDRESS OR PHONE NUMBER? If you or a loved one are moving out of the area or to a nursing home and don’t need envelopes, please let us know. If financial circumstances change and envelopes will no longer be used, please inform the office. Also, please notify the office of a new address or phone number if you are moving but will remain a parishioner here. This will allow us to keep our records accurate and up to date. Thank you! Center, The ONLY Catholic healthcare facility in the Norwich Diocese, is seeking volunteers to join our chapel team assisting during 11 am daily Mass. MATTIE'S TOGS THRIFT SHOP St. Matthew Church Tolland, CT. We have been blessed with a huge amount of gently used clothing this past winter. Some are brand new and still tagged. Description

The weekend is designed to help married couples

communicate more intimately with one another in order to deepen and enrich their relationship. The weekend

is free from everyday routines, distractions and tensions.

An atmosphere is created where

the couple can concentrate exclusively on one another in a

private, confidential environment.

A series of presentations that touch on many aspects of

marriage is given by three couples, and a Catholic priest.

After each presentation,

the couple has time, in the privacy of their own room for

personal sharing using the communication techniques learned on the weekend.

There are no “group discussions”

WWME is faithful to the Roman Catholic Church’s teaching that

marriage is a covenant that exists between one man and one woman.

Any reference to marriage or couple made by WWME is in this

context. The weekend usually starts at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and

ends at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.
