MONDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY
The Monday night Bible Study group will be studying
a Biblical Walk through the Mass starting April 25. Based on the revised translation of the Mass, this five-part program takes participants on an exciting tour of the Liturgy as it explores the biblical roots of the words and gestures we experience at Mass and explains their profound significance. See, perhaps for the first time, why we say what we say and do what we do every week at Mass. The words and gestures will be seen in a new light, giving new life to the liturgical experience.
Call the rectory at 610-399-6936 or contact Lidia Manieri at [email protected] to register. Cost is $20.00. Please register by April 11.

ST. THERESE OF LISIEUX— “STORY OF A SOUL”
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 20TH AT 7:30 PM
Sts. Simon and Jude Parish, West Chester, will be hosting the Saint
Luke Productions of “Therese: The Story of a Soul.” This is an original one-woman live drama performed by actress Audrey Ahern. Saint Luke Productions presented the St. Maximilian Kolbe program here at St. Max over a year ago. This program is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy. This inspiring event creates a unique encounter with St. Therese and her Little Way of love and trust in God. If you would like any more information regarding this event, please contact Sts. Simon and Jude at 610.696.3624.
ARE YOU CALLED TO BE A DEACON?
A deacon’s ministry entails proclaiming, preaching and teaching God’s Word, assisting the bishop and priest at the Liturgy, assisting at funerals, ministering to the sick and dying, leading the community in prayer and in sacramental liturgies, baptizing, witnessing marriages and exercising administrative leadership in the Church. A permanent deacon, who may be married, is a member of the clergy and shares in the hierarchy of the Sacrament of Holy Orders. Through the Sacrament of Holy Orders, the deacon is configured to Christ the Servant. It is Christ the Servant who acts through the ministry of the deacon. If you are interested or would like to learn more, consider attending the 2016 Permanent Diaconate Information Night at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Vianney Auditorium at 100 E. Wynnewood Road in Wynnewood on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Registration is required and can be done by e m a i l i n g L a u r a N i m m o n s a t [email protected].

BAPTISMS AND LETTERS OF ELIGIBILITY TO ACT
AS A SPONSOR OR GODPARENT
Anyone wishing to make arrangements for the
sacrament of Baptism or to obtain a Letter of Eligibility to witness to the Catholic Faith as a godparent for Baptism or sponsor for Confirmation is asked to call the rectory at 610-399-6936. Canonical requirements of the Universal Church to be eligible as a godparent or sponsor include the following: 1. Reception of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist). 2. Being at least 16 years of age. 3. If married, marriage must have been witnessed by a Catholic priest or with permission from the Catholic Church. 4. Giving witness to the Catholic Faith by living the Gospel and participating regularly (weekly) in the Eucharist. 5. Desiring to support the person being baptized or confirmed in his/her growth in the Catholic Faith and to pray for him/her. Through our Baptism, we are made One in Jesus Christ and members of His Body, the Church, sharing in Christ’s mission of Salvation. All of us must grow in this gift. Our practice of the Faith helps us in this endeavor and enlightens others, especially those we are called to help, to the joy of being called disciples of the Lord.

MANNA CANNED FOOD COLLECTION WEEKEND OF MAY 7TH AND 8TH
Every month, generous parishioners at St. Max sponsor a food drive for local charities, helping to stock the emergency food cupboards in our area. May’s drive will be in conjunction with the yearly Manna Canned Food Collection of the Archdiocese. Food will still go to our local charity at the St. Agnes Day Room. Many struggling families and individuals turn to the emergency food cupboards for support during times of crisis. Their lives are blessed by the generosity of the faithful of our parish. Items in greatest need are beef stew, tuna fish, fruit, vegetables, pasta, soups and baked beans. Manna bags will be available after all Masses the weekend of April 16/17, 23/24 and April 30/May 1 and returned the weekend of May 7/8. They will then be taken to the St. Agnes Day Room. We thank you for your generosity!
DON’T COME EMPTY HANDED!
Families in Action continues to partner with the ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester Community Cupboard on behalf of St Maximilian Kolbe Parish. Each month
we will continue to collect items to share with our neighbors in need. Last month, because of your kindness and generosity we were able to donate SEVERAL HUNDRED toothbrushes! In April we have Spring Cleaning on the mind we hope to gather Lysol (or other brand) wipes as we attend at daily or weekly mass together. They can be left in the RED Families in Action bin by the front door of the church or in the Kids in Action bin in the Copy Room of the school. For more information or for other opportunities to volunteer or donate needed items, please go to http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090e4faea96-community or contact Lisa Bice at [email protected] to be added to our mailing list.
