Guatemala avanza a semifinales

GUANACASTE, Costa Rica, Abril 16, 2016. Un resultado histórico para Guatemala lograron Andy Leonardo/ Luis García al avanzar a semifinales de la cuarta parada del Tour NORCECA de Voleibol de Playa en Playa Tamarindo.

Leonardo/García vencieron en cuartos de final a Michael Boag/Devon Hatcher, de Estados Unidos, por 2-1 (21-17, 18-21, 15-12) y se verán las caras ante Daneil Williams/Fabien Whitfield, de Trinidad y Tobago, que se impusieron a Bryan Monge/Ronald Masís, de Costa Rica por 2-1 (21-18, 18-21, 15-12).

En la otra semifinal, Spencer McLachlin/ Miles Evans, de Estados Unidos, que vencieron a Soto/Figueroa, de Puerto Rico 2-0 (21-9, 21-12), jugarán ante Michael Plantinga/Cameron Wheelan, de Canadá, que superaron a Richard Smith/Sebastián Valenciano, de Costa Rica, por 2-0 (21-18, 21-18).

McLachlin/Evans, terminaron invictos en el grupo B y en el grupo C, los canadienses Plantinga/Wheelan también ganaron sus tres encuentros.

Leonardo/García, fueron segundos en el C, pero dieron una gran demostración en cuartos de final ante Boag/Hatcher, quienes fueron líderes invictos del grupo D. Los guatemaltecos quedaron en séptimo en la primera fecha en Ciudad Guatemala y en Guaymas, Sonora, México subieron hasta el sexto puesto.

Semifinales iniciarán a las 10:40 a.m. (TRI-GUA) y 11:30 a.m. (USA-CAN) y la final está programada a las 2:30 p.m.

Volleyball Tour in Playa Tamarindo. Leonardo/ Garcia defeated in the quarterfinals to Michael Boag/ Devon Hatcher, of United States, by 2-1 (21-17, 18-21, 15-12) and faces to Daneil Williams/ Fabien Whitfield, of Trinidad and Tobago, which were imposed on Bryan Monge/ Ronald Masís of Costa Rica 2-1 (21-18, 18-21, 15-12). In the other semifinal, Spencer McLachli/ Miles Evans, of United States, who beat Hector Soto/ Sergio Figueroa of Puerto Rico by 2-0 (21-9, 21-12) will play against Michael Plantinga/ Cameron Wheelan, Canada, which won to Richard Smith/ Sebastian Valenciano, of Costa Rica, by 2-0 (21-18, 21-18). McLachlin/ Evans, finished unbeaten in group B and Plantinga/ Wheelan in the pool C. Leonardo/ Garcia, were second in the C, but got a great exhibition in the quarterfinals versus Boag/ Hatcher, who were unbeaten group leaders D. Leonardo/ García remained in seventh on the first stop in Guatemala City and in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico climbed to sixth.

Cope/Alfaro quieren estar en la final en casa

GUANACASTE, Costa Rica, Abril 16, 2016. Costa Rica buscará su mejor resultado en el

Tour NORCECA de Voleibol de playa 2016 al avanzar a semifinales del torneo de mujeres de la cuarta parada del Circuito, donde se medirá ante Cuba, mientras las dos parejas de Estados

Unidos se enfrentarán en semifinales.

Karen Cope y Natalia Alfaro, de Costa Rica, fueron cuartas en la parada de La Paz, Baja California, México, y en Playa Tamarindo vencieron a sus compatriotas Valeria Valenciano/Marcela Araya por 2-0, con doble 21-14, en los cuartos de final. Las rivales de las Centroamericanas, las cubanas Yanisleidis Sanchez/Lidiannis Echeverría, se impusieron a Brandie Wilkerson/Julie Gordon, de Canadá, campeonas en la parada de La Paz, por 2-0 (21-17, 21-19).

Cope/Alfaro vencieron a Sánchez/Echeverría en su encuentro de fase de grupos, 2-1 (21-14, 10-21, 15-8), resultado que esperan repetir en semifinales para llegar a su primera final del año.

En tanto, Kelly Reeves/Allison McColloch, de Estados Unidos, segundas en La Paz, superaron a Claudia Ríos/Gloria Santoyo, de México, por 2-0 (21-16, 21-18) y se medirán en semifinales a sus compañeras Betsi Flint/Kelley Larsen, que superaron a Rachel Crockel/Camille Saxton, de Canadá, por 2-0 (23-21, 21-18).

El partido entre equipos de Estados Unidos será a las 9:00 a.m. mientras Costa Rica y Cuba jugarán a las 9:50 a.m. La final femenina está programada para las 3:30 p.m.

Los equipos que perdieron los cuartos de final, jugarán por los puestos del quinto al octavo. Valenciano/Araya, de Costa Rica, ante Ríos Santoyo, de México. Wilkerson/Gordon contra Cockrell/Saxton, ambas parejas de Canadá.

En los encuentros para definir posiciones del noveno al puesto 12, Burnside/Orellana, de México, se enfrentarán a Machado/López, de Nicaragua a las 9:00 a.m. y a la misma hora, Molina/Álvarez de El Salvador van ante Wolfenden/Gandofi, de Islas Caimán.

In meetings to define positions from ninth to 12th, Burnside/ Orellana, of Mexico, will face Machado/ Lopez of Nicaragua at 9:00 am and at the same time, Molina/ Alvarez of El Salvador will face Wolfenden/ Gandofi , of Cayman Islands.
