Bullying in School: Evaluation and Disseminationof the Olweus Bullying Prevention ProgramSeveral large-scale studies from Norway are reviewed, which provide evidence of the programs effectiveness in Norwegian schools. Studies that have evaluated the OBPP in diverse settings in the United States have not been uniformly consistent, but they have shown that the OBPP has had a positive impact on students self-reported involvement in bullying and antisocial behavior.Olweus (2010) have estimated, based on the results from six large-scale studies in Norway, that the OBPP helped more than 2,000 Norwegian students escape being regularly bulliedThe program is being implemented in a relatively limited percentage of schools in Norway (approximately 25%) and in a small percentage in the United States (approximately 4%).(Dan Olweus)

Why I chose this topicAs a future teacher, it is important be aware of the bullying that takes place in schools and how it effects students and their ability to learn and how it effects their relationships.According to Dan Olweus and National School Safety Center, American schools harbor approximately 2.1 million bullies and 2.7 million of their victims. I want to help decrease these numbers and create a safe school environment.
