CLUB VOUCHERS Please note that the Committee advises that Club Vouchers that have been presented as prizes from Shows, can be used for purchase of goods from the Sales Table and also for the payment of membership. If any members receive vouchers from Ezi-Grow Orchids, and are unable to pick up their prize, Ian Gilmore has offered to assist.

Sales Table: A reminder that all your orchid needs can be obtained through the Club on meeting

mornings. If you need to pre-order any orchid bark or Perlite, please contact Norm Martin. All other supplies such as pots, fertilisers, orchid clips, hanging pots, etc will be available on meeting morning.

Orchid bark supplies will be stored and available from the Club’s shed in Halifax. Please contact Norm Martin to arrange any purchases and pick up from Shed. Please note that the pickup is at Norm’s discretion.

Mike Baker provided a powerpoint demonstration and talk of the nominations and winners of the 2017 Ira Butler, Bill Murdoch & Herman Slade Awards. Our thanks to Mike for a very comprehensive explanation of the plants that were selected (Australia wide) and the eventual winners.

Members gathered at Norm & Jenny Martin’s home on Sunday 26th Aug for a very interesting look around Norm’s shadehouse and talk on re-potting, fertilising and watering of orchids. It was great to see new members attend. Morning tea followed and a sausage sizzle was provided by Norm for those who remained to chat. Many thanks to Norm and Jenny. Raffle – Members to bring items to the September meeting add to the Raffle prize. Items to

relate to gardens and orchids. These items will be raffled at the SPRING SHOW.

Volunteers needed for the kitchen and helping with morning and afternoon teas. Donations of food for morning and afternoon tea is also needed. Please contact President Bill Dear if you can assist. The Club will be organising for potting demonstrations to be conducted at the Show.

If any members can offer assistance in conducting one of these demonstrations, please contact

For those members who do volunteer, you can use any genera you wish to re-pot.

Could be held in the atrium as there is space. We need and organiser and demos – B High volunteered, however due to advertising completed it will not be part of the program for this year. Kitchen – C McCallum volunteered to manage the kitchen. Donations of cakes and slices still requested. Please let Cheryl know what you will bring. Rosters – at next meeting Winter Show 2019 The club is keen to incorporate a potting up demo into one of the shows next year. The Winter show is the most logical as the Spring show is very busy and the Autumn show small. Venues where we can complete a potting demo preferred. Considerations of Australind hall (if well publicized) Bunbury RSL Spencer St Preference to book something in so that we can start to advertise as early as possible.

Autumn show 2019 Discussion around timing and location of the show. Members suggested linking the show to the May meeting, or conducting in the Australind Shopping Centre. From past shows the best timing for the show is Setup – Wednesday night Show open – Thursday – Friday Close - 5pm Friday Date: First weekend in May. Spring show 2019 Need to ensure the dates booked for 2019 – 2020. With the show weekend 1 weekend later than expected there are date clashes with other show which stretches member and judges. ACTION: M Nelson or J Charles to confirm dates of future shows.
