Week 10 Term 3 Tuesday, 29th September 2009
Welcome from the Principal
The recent fire that destroyed our primary block is
obviously devastating and an enormous loss to our
school community. However, they say that out of
adversity comes not only challenges but opportunity.
Today staff and students moved into alternative
classrooms and we thank Distance Education for
their assistance in this area. Classes have settled well
into their new learning environments and have
continued with their regular teaching/learning
programs.
The community support over the last couple of days
has been absolutely overwhelming and very much
appreciated. The resilience and positive outlook of
our school community is evident and will certainly
assist us in the weeks to come. Demountable
classrooms will arrive in the holidays ready for
classes next term. School will resume on Monday
19th October for Term 4. I will keep community
informed of ongoing update.
We wish everyone a safe, happy holiday and look
forward to working together with our community in building better futures for
our students.
Have a great week,
Sharon Murray Principal

The Early Stage 1 and Stage 1
teachers are feeling very lucky
and grateful that most of our
classrooms were not affected in
the terrible fire at our school on
the weekend. Mrs Letfallah’s
room was the only Stage 1 room
affected by the fire. Her class will
be situated in the Distance Education department
where normal classroom learning will take place for
the rest of the term.
We are all very sad about what has
happened and will be talking to
the students and answering any
questions they may have, the
best we can. It is very important that you remind
your children that our school is still a safe learning
place and the teachers are all working together to
keep things as normal as possible.
Sport News
There are many more exciting things for the
students to look forward to before the term
is over. On Thursday afternoon, Stage 1 will
be holding their Rewards Party in the
afternoon session for all students who
have received 30 or more stickers on their
rewards charts. We will be having a feast of pizza and a
disco. Parents are all welcome to come and join the
celebrations.
This week teachers will be finishing up
our class units as well as completing all
assessment tasks for the Portfolios and
will be ready for new learning next
term.
From all the teachers from Early Stage 1 and Stage 1, we wish all
families a safe and happy holiday and look forward to a fresh new term.

IKI Stage 3 girls have been
enjoying learning iKi
for sport on Fridays.
IKI is a health, wellbeing
and self-reliance program
which is fresh and
exciting. The teaching
principles, instinctive
movement and uplifting
music combine to
reinforce and accelerate
the process of learning.
Confidence and
happiness go hand in
hand with the iKi Warrior
program. Feeling
awkward or inadequate in
front of others is
confronting for most
people. With iKi this
problem is overcome as
the fun of using the iKi
Stick allows everyone to
participate at an enjoyable
level. Read more about
iKi and even learn online

The girls also play
team-building/
communication
games. This one,
